He is a scape goat. Please explain why it is illegal to talk or write about where to buy pussy. His crime is he did not hide his name like we do.
We don't know the the facts. He may have gone beyond just talking or writing about it. Prostitution may be legal, but pimping is not.
I feel bad for him. I met him a few times in the DR and he was a really nice guy, though a bit naive IMO. The last thing you want to do in these places is have a high profile.

I have no connection with the guy and I wish him well but, fair or not, constantly climbing on stage and grabbing the microphone is going to get you attention and some of the attention may not be what you wish for.

That too bad.
Extra, Extra, Read All About It! Cuba Dave Arrested Yesterday in Costa Rica!!
http://qcostarica.com/american-arrested-in-costa-rica-for-promoting-sex-tourism/
That is a shame. His stuff was a helpful reference to me when I first started traveling for the hobby, as I'm sure it was for many others. He probably helped bring in untold thousands of dollars for the tourist industry's of Costa Rica and the Dominican republic.

How come this guy, who purports to give advice on mongering, never figured out the first rule?
1. To stay out of trouble a monger should always keep a low profile!
Or, put another way, guys who like to live on the edge often fall off!

It was the internet that destroyed most of the great sex tourist destinations.
When you find paradise and its to good to be true you better think twice before posting. IMHO.

I would also add do you think another country wants to see a foreigner come to there country and provide a how to sex guide and talking about that country's women even if legal as prostitutes. No country wants to be shamed like that even if legal. What I am more surprised is that he got away with it as long as he did. To me, the lesson should always be treat women with dignity and respect no matter what they do for a living. You all have seen someone treat a women bad in another country and get into trouble.

Whether one realizes it or not, we are a target. What's worse for Cuba Dave is he was doing this in smaller venues. If he were in a giant city like Sao Paulo, Bogota, or Bangkok, he might not get as much attention. But in Sosua or Costa Rica, he was really a big target.

Everything he prognosticated seemed to be inaccurate or misinformed, or possibly he was dissembling.

Cubadave is a douche. On top of providing lots of incomplete or inaccurate info the businesses basically ran him out of Costa Rica the first time, whereupon he slagged all things Tico, then he made himself unwelcome with the businesses in the DR, who found out that being associated with him in any way drew negative attention from the authorities, then they seized his shit the first time in Miami and got thrown out of the DR, and his colossal narcissism is such that even after that, and his slinking return to Costa Rica, that he still didn't learn his lesson, didn't keep his shit private, didn't keep his electronics clean, and once again finds himself in hot water. His stupidity landed him where he is now and it's hard to feel sympathy for him, although despite all his failures and his well-known pandering to specific business in return for good reviews he's still just a guy out for a good time. I don't want to see him go to jail, and I don't think the beef that the CR administration has against him should hold up in any court, so I hope he gets out ok, but honestly IMHO one of the best things that could happen to mongering and mongers at large would be the silencing of this man. We don't need to be collateral damage to his ego.

But yes, it would be good for people like him to shut up instead of drawing more attention to us. I wouldn't take advice from him, because he didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. One thing that also struck me was that he spoke almost no Spanish. The guy has made hundreds of trips to Cuba, the DR, and Costa Rica and he seemed to have a great time w / o Spanish.

Probably in jail in Costa Rica he will at least find out what 'culo' means. I don't know if anyone has read the interview he gave to the newspaper where he said he did not have to work because he got paid just for being who he was. That was pretty funny.

Every time I saw him he carried on like he was lord of the manor, and he knew about a quarter of what I did. He'd pick specific spots to call home and he would frequently wife up and then make generalized statements about the scene, of which he knew little. What he did know how to do was to recommend whatever his current favorite place was at length, and he wasn't at all shy about asking these establishments to give him some discount pussy for the "recommendations" even when what he was saying was utter bullshit. I particularly loved when he was doing his videos right around the time that Passions was shut down, lamenting the terrible injustice that the club was suffering, while at the the same time wearing his CMP hat and starting to shill for them. He's bum-steered so many people they should rename the expression Dave-steered. He was always friendly to people though, as long as they acknowledged his Dave-ness, and he was perfectly happy to share his wisdom to whatever attentive crowd of people who didn't know better would listen. I don't think he is a bad guy at heart, but he has done incalculable damage to several businesses and the mongering community at large.

I would also add that in countries where P4P is legal like Costa Rica, the DR, Colombia, many mongers get the erroneous impression that because many women are doing it that most women in those countries are Putas when if fact it is a very small minority that exercise the profession. It is a highly stigmatized and despised profession by the general population, government, church, etc. Add to that those are Catholic countries where everyone is taught that it is a dammed profession and everyone engaging with or involved with will go to hell. Mongers that don't understand this are the one that set a bad example, offering money to any girl they meet thinking they are all hookers, and forgetting about being very discrete about mongering or not keeping a low profile. That is why I like to mix my travel with interacting with the local culture and every where I go is the same, the profession is despised by the general population even if it is legal. And because of this most hookers hide their line of work from their families. While I travel and mingle with the locals, I don't mention to any local that my main purpose of traveling is mongering unless I really know the person I share that information, always trying to keep a low profile. CubaDave thought that because prostitution was legal in CR and DR it was not a problem to be public about it. He just found out the hard way that it is a big problem and that what he was doing was illegal. He forgot as you mentioned to be keep a low profile and worse forgot to research that his activities of profiting (ebooks about Costa Rica, getting subscribers, making videos, posting photos of hookers in social media etc) were ground to accuse him of promoting sex tourism, proxenetism, and put him in jail. The moral of the story is we should all be cautious, be respectful of other cultures, their women putas or non putas, and keep always a low profile. And always watch your back so you don't get stab by someone you think is your friend.
