Do you think you get the same level of service if you talked down the price?

I get the feeling that these chicks all have their set prices and if you do not accept their price then they do not give the service. They don't seem desperate. It appears to me that they are all acting like a cartel. And that they will TOFTT (take one for the team), by refusing your lower price offer. The "team" being all the other Thais out there.

Only question I have is the 10,000 baht the bars pay the girls for selling 45 or so drinks. Even at 300 B a lady drink the bar makes only 13,500 baht. What's the incentive for the owner to pay 10,000 to be girl?

A girl that I was messing with a couple of months ago said that they make 50 baht from each lady drink. So subtracting that 2200 from the 3500 left then the bar would only be left with making 1,300 for the month.

I am not reporting on something that I heard or that I think; I am reporting on something that I know and that I have constantly experienced. And when have you ever seen me make a report on bad service in Thailand? Never that I can recall! A lot of guys report on bad service after paying the given price. (Do you remember that royal treatment that FLHawk received after shelling out all that money for the chick at WhatsUp?) I think 1000 is just the standard. However, negotiating a lower price can effect the level of service you get but I think you are just wise enough to know when and where you can do it and with whom. An experienced monger will always know this.
A bar has 2 revenue streams, bar fines and drinks which can be further broken down into customer and lady drinks. Guaranteed income for the girls is in reality irrelevant as it is dependent on reaching their quotas. You will be hard pressed to find bars that pay a "salary" when a girl consistently falls short. Successful operators could guarantee 25000 a month and still come out ahead if they attracted the more successful working girls. One or more bar fines a night and up to a 100 drinks a month and they are well ahead.
On the issue on whether service is affected by a customer negotiating reductions on standard rates I would say probably not. Girls in my experience have a somewhat fixed service routine but I have no doubt they will have a somewhat poor view of somebody who essentially takes advantage of their circumstances to give them less than what is already a very reasonable price. I'm not talking here about the go go girl who wants silly money for her time but the soi 6 girl or the massage girl who is willing to provide full service for a 1000. I know the argument nobody is forcing them to take 500 but come on for fcuk sale have a heart and show some empathy.

I have overall found thai chicks to be pretty honest and keen to do a good job.
But I was mainly talking about them not wanting to drop their price.
One incident sticks out in my mind when I took an oilie at the "Lucky Finger" massage next to Kiss 2nd Road Soi Diana. The one hour oilie cost 300 baht, and then at the finish I said I would give the girl 300 baht for HJ finish. She said no, and that the price was 500 baht and that I would not find a HJ for under 500 baht in Pattaya.
I begged to differ, so didn't up my offer. She didn't lower her price, so no transaction was forthcoming.
It just seemed strange to me that a chick refused 300 baht for 5 minutes of easy work that would have tripled what she earned from the cut that she got from the 1 hour oilie that she gave me. Let's say she got a 150 baht cut (and had to do a lot more work to get it). I don't know exactly.
That's why I reckon she is taking one for the team, and helping to keep prices for these sorts of services at elevated levels. Also I think that she is getting some sort of perverse pleasure in refusing me a sexual service, as a punishment for not meeting her price point.

I must have walked into one of those Nightwish bars on Soi 6 not so long ago, and negotiated with a chick for 1000 baht boom boom. However I wasn't too happy when I found out that the room cost was going to be 400 baht.
So I offered the chick 300 baht for the room. Handed her three 100 baht notes. She sort of just looked at them and hesitated and didn't know what to do. After a short while, it looked like everything was about to go pear-shaped so I took the notes back out of her hands and walked out of the bar.
No one said anything, no one called me back.
I like to do this sort of thing now and again to remind businesses that some of us mongerers are price-sensitive. The bar just lost my very generous offer of 300 baht, and the girl just lost 1000 baht.
Anyway, I suppose they don't give a rat's ass as there is always another punter just a few minutes behind me anyway, willing to pay up.
Soon after I located a bar with a 300 baht room charge and a chick with a big pair of tits for 1000 baht. I mean, a 100 baht saving is tomorrow's lunch.

I remember at least one next to the blow-job shops that charges only 300 for rooms actually better than most 400 baht rooms elsewhere. By better room I mean a better bed and, most importantly, a bedside mirror.
