The BBC made it sound like a big deal
Don't think so. They have been perfectly free to travel and work in Germany for some time now. It is about extending the Schengen area. It has taken its time since the joining countries have to fulfill some security stuff on their boarders to countries outside Schengen.
The border was before just a minor nuisance, crossed easily by Germans and Poles for cheaper gasoline or cigarettes, or to go to work. Citizens of countries in the European Union have already been passing through the now closed checkpoints with little more than a flash of the identity card in most cases. The dismantling of the Polish/German border posts is a really a ceremonial nonevent
btw: It was not only Poland but also Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia
The BBC report did interviews of Germans who mostly expressed concern about increased criminality.
On the other side of the border, they mostly expressed relief at not being treated as second rate citizens anymore. They did say they expected to have to carry papers with them and present them if not at the border than further into the West.
Notice that the list does not (yet) include Romania and Bulgaria, the sources of a lot of talent these days.
This issue of cars being stolen is a real one. If you rent a car in Germany there is a list of countries you cannot take your car into (all to the East). Its all in the fine print.
A friend of mine had project work in Warsaw and he had to drive there every now and then. The rule was to drive as old a car as you can when you cross the border. Otherwise, you can expect that you will have people follow you and either try to make you pull over or wait for you to pull over. Then they take your car.
They won't take certain cars though. He was saying that if you drive a Jaguar across the Polish border, for example, they will stand back and admire the car but not touch it because they know they can't easily get spare parts for it.

I personally want the 31 day extended orgasm.
Nice motor Boris...and dosvidanja to you
I can't spell Russian.....yes go to rent-a-wreck for your hire car to eastern europe. As for the borders remember that the British are mightly pissed at the whole idea of Europe and will do and say anything to rubbish it, especially as the Brits are turning their island into Fortress UK. By contrast German TV was one big celebration of fireworks, bunting, booze and sawing border barriers ceremonially in half. When I first crossed the border years ago (for work) I couldn't understand why the line of cars on the German side were all full of single men----silly me.
The Good Old Days in Nevada
Seasons Greetings to all
The FKK scene surely is a blessing to one and all. But there was a similar scene years ago in the USA, until "Big Business" took over, as a result of supply and demand. Dubious laws. And profits.
In the 70's, early 80's brothels outside of Carson City, Nevada (the famed Pussycat Ranch), amongst many small operators, even the famed Mustang Ranch were reasonably priced_ O'l Joe Conforte kept his prices reasonable.
The Pussycat Ranch (just outside of Carson City) was an owner operated establishment. Small, compared to some of the neighboring establishments. $50. 00 a go. Drinks were $2. 00. Meals (free) were served. The service was first class. Friendly folks. (the black madam always remembered us, a classic character)
On many occassions, my friends and I would check in for a few days. There are hot springs not far away for rejuvenation. I could write a book on the fun we had. These were the golden days.
Sadly big business eventually took over. The hoo hah /big shot at the Moonlite Ranch bought up several of the brothels, raised the prices. Had a TV show. Importing porn stars. At 2-5000. 00 ++++ a session.
The laws in the USA on PFS remained the same. So it remains a sellers market.
Here is the price. Take it or leave it.
However there was a time. When there was no need to travel to Europa to have alot of fun for a reasonable bill. It was right here in our backyard. Sadly, that day is long gone. Due to archaic laws. Strato.
