Filling time on a slow board
Since there are no more recent posts. I'll post a non report for non mongers.
Routine trip to Sosua, buddy couldn't make it as planned.
Mi chica waiting for me at the little bar at the airport with a Presidente, and her "cousin" taxi driver. Welcome to Paradise!
To Casa Marina, big welcome from staff, and nicely located room. They have reopened the Beach section of the hotel after extensive renovations.
It is quickly moving up from the 2 Star to the 4 Star category. Three or four pristine pools, a newly opened restaurant, and now a beautiful pleasant staff that will bring your unlimited free drinks on a tray to you anywhere you are on the resort including the beach with a smile, and without their hand out for a propina.
An energetic entertainment staff that gets everyone involved in fun activities.
It used to be the third world where you would find lazyness and poorly organized and much delayed projects. But here at the hotel they but up a brand new large patio bar, fully serviced and equipped and working, in exactly two days. That project would be a couple months in my Canada. (It took 3 weeks just to move a small Lottery ticket kiosk in my office mall.).
Lots of action on the street, the sidewalk plastic chairs (a Dominican tradition) are now the enjoyable way to survey the passing parade and say Hello, to friends and strangers, and it's free.
Things are picking up at the other (Europa) end of main street, and the chicken barbeques are out in force again on the street, with some happy little family bars.
I had to meet (but not audition) a few potential amigas for my buddy who couldn't make it but passed along a propina for their trouble. One particular memorable night in Cabarete. Hot and humid as hell, most of the week.
Hated to leave on Grownman's rainy Saturday, Chica left for long trip home early in the day, so I figured I' spend the rest of the day checking out some local action, or at least a massage.
But I'd been satisfied, and was content to just take it easy.
The rain was hard at the airport, and all the skylights on the new departure concourse were leaking like sieves, and had staff all running around. With the fuss and noise I thought it was something more serious.
Maybe they shudda brought in those resort bar builders to do it right.
