My girl was like, I would rather kiss my cousins than some random working girl in the streets, plus my cousins will thank me for the extra cash. I'm like hell yeah, I'm with the program. So we picked up three of her cousins and headed back to the finca, we swam, grilled and had sex all damn evening and night. On day 5 I decided to relax a little and spend as much time with my girl as possible as well as her immediate family her mom dad brother and little sister. So I stayed at my apartment with the family and had family time like any old family guy would do. I love Colombia, Yes I do, my girl has no kids, and allows me to do as I please as long as I pay the bills. Here's my resolve to paying the bills, I paid so much money for child support when I was paying child support, that I can actually maintain a complete apartment buy groceries and pay someone to assist with keeping the property cleaned an maintained for less than what the child support people were draining me for. I think you'll find that most guys stay at RTFF. It's very popular. If you scroll down the page to the Medellin Hotels and Rental Apartments thread you'll find some of the guys favorite spots at RTFF.
If you would rather not try RTFF, you'll need to give a lot more information before anyone can help you. What is your experience in large cities? How well do you speak Spanish? What are your specific plans in Medellin? What is your budget? What is your prior mongering experience? When you can answer those questions, someone might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Finally back in MDE after a long time away. Hoping my favorite place to stop for two beers is still as chill as I remember. Masaje Zandalay is my favorite casa in town. Totally chill attitude there, nice ladies. Wish the were less booty and more skinny but can't argue with the hospitality. If you haven't checked it out, you should, and I'll update later if I'm wrong but I think its only 35 k for a HH.
Two questions for my fellow mongers:
1. Anyone have other favorite low-key casas? I don't do the high-dollar places, looking for the normal local price casas. Happy to meet up this week with anyone who wants to kick around.
2. How about a good massage? Any recommendations? The ladies at Zandalay will rub your back a bit but its nothing to write home about. I'd prefer a good massage with happy ending of course, but more than likely have to settle for a legit massage.

If you get off the metro at Estadio and walk south on 70 there are a couple of agencies that rent furnished apartments. One on each side, just a few blocks south of the station. Don't know what they have to offer.
The problems are as much to do with the short term rentals as with the prepagos, especially the places that cater to gringos. Too many of them lack volume control or a filter or any respect for the people around them. They're in Medellin to party and they don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about them.

As mentioned, I prefer a building that has on-site security, but would consider other options if they severely limit access to the building, like a locked entry door with unit buzzer and neighbors that give a damn about who is allowed entry to the building. I am pretty low profile when I visit from the indoor party standpoint, but from time to time have had as many as 3 different girls over in a single day for multiple days in a row. The Blux fit my needs to do that, and to have a quality and safe stay with a swimming pool. The number of daily guests will be far more limited on my retirement income, so that is an area I have less concern about in the future. But having a balcony and swimming pool is essential for me. Looking forward to experience of spending 1-2 months at a time, in MDE. Hope I can start that leg of my journey very soon.
Since I have just retired, I am considering differing lengths of stay that do not exceed the annual limit of a tourist visa. So 6 months, either broken up into 1, 2 or 3 different trips. The latter seems more likely given there are still things I still want to do in the states like spending time with my friends and using my fishing boat.
For the fiador, how would you define long-term lease? 6 months, 12 months?

I think the Hotel Deseros right next door is a short term or would be cheap anyway.

The key is to rent from corporations and people with a lots of listings--they're less likely to give a shite if you're using their place as a love pad. If you're unsure just ask if they allow visitors.
