The arrival hall was so packed that a quite a few passengers had to actually wait outside the terminal doors under the hot sun for nearly 30 min before they stepped through the doors. Needless to say it took him over 3 hours to get past immigration.

BTW there are no direct flights to UTP from SIN anymore. I guess there was no sustainable demand from the red dot.

Of cuourse any domestic flight is not affected.

Schedules for some domestic are not ideal anyhow. Looking at the DMK and BKK domestic options, plus the quick taxi rides from either airport, the time saving might be 15 minutes and the cost saving 200 baht. Not worth IMHO.

UTapao is the typical sednd or third airport of a big city, trying to find a niche in the market with charter or low cost flights (no demanding passengers) cheap rates for airlines, bottom type of facilities.

You can't blame the airport handler to try a business opportunity, on the other hand, to save them from oblivion.

Flying into utp was about $250 cheaper one way. Coming from usa the best price I found flying into bkk was about $750 to $800. Flying into utp cost me $502.

A BM was celebrating a special occasion and decided at the last minute to give Soi 6 a try near closing time. It is not what they are asking; it is what you negotiate. Look back over my posts and you can see screenshotted examples of where I negotiated with the girl.
