Just curious, a question for those who might know...

If you took the total number of girls who are in the farang-oriented scene in BKK, which would include Sukhumvit area (NP, SC, Thermae, Angels, Soi 33, Biergarten, etc etc and including the farang-oriented massages and also FLs) plus Patpong and I guess CM2 ought to be included as well... and that was your total number for Bangkok...

and then did the same thing in Pattaya and totaled up all the go-gos and beer bars, massages and FL's in the farang scene down there....

What would you guesstimate those 2 totals would add up to?

My suspicion is that including the beer bars of Pattaya puts it way over the top in total numbers, but that's a lot of chaff in the pile of wheat, so it's unfairly inflated numbers for PTY possibly.

I'm surprised there aren't 'census' estimates for these scenes.

so the next day we went to amsterdam. i will definitely recommend this place over poseidon. the overall atmosphere when you enter is much better, easier to select the ladies too as opposed to poseidon where i had to look across a damn concert hall. (figure of speech). ;)

and i found that the m (model) range girls here which were slightly cheaper are as good looking as the sm (super model) ones in poseidon.

the rooms were also much better with a roman sort of theme, better cleanliness, a toilet bowl which i remember not seeing in poseidon.

all in all, a much better experience all around.

better women, better ambience, better cleanliness but i cant say much for the location. it took us a long time mustering up the courage to cross the intersection from the opposite corner especially at 5.30pm.

not many posters find the high priced "models" at poseidon to be worth the extra money. i personally don't think they are significantly better looking than the downstairs cheaper girls, but may be younger and probably a good figure is a must.
normally we recommend nataree at half the price although poseidon is more high class. probably you wouldn't like the nataree rooms. personally i have had incredibly good experiences at utopia which is very classy.
poseidon seems a little past its prime.

not many posters have found a great experience at amsterdam, including myself, so if you had a good one, a few more details about the girl would be appreciated.
i don't care so much about the room, lounge, intersection etc. as we know this is a classy place. its the girl that matters. how pretty? good body? good service? even her name or number if you are willing to divulge.

I am going back to LOS after 5 long years and was looking for some updated info. I will be arriving late on a Sunday night. Was thinking after a long series of flights that a soapie might do me good. I am staying in the area around Nana Plaza. Is there a good place in that area that will still be open to get a good soapie...that is somthing I have never done in Thailand. About how much should I expect to pay? I am not sure how large the tubs are...I am a bigger guy and didn't want that to be an issue.

Also, I was wondering if there is anyplace that explores fetishes. I saw the BarBar place advertised in Patpong. Has anyone ever had any experience with this place or some such similar place? Prices, etc?

BTW, Coyote Ugly was the title of a play from the early 1980s about a grotesque family in Arizona, pure Southwestern white trash. The slang term "coyote ugly" refers to the feeling of waking up after a one night stand and discovering that you are beside someone who is so physically repulsive that you would gladly gnaw off any of your limbs that he or she is sleeping on just so you can get away without being discovered. Coyotes, when caught in a trap, will chew off their paws to get away.

It's the customers, not the bartenders, who are coyote ugly. It's also a very appropriate image for 90% of the foreign male visitors to Thailand.

The figure that is often given for Pattaya is 30,000 to 40,000. That's based on 3,000 registered bars and 10 to 13 girls in each bar, depending on the season. Some go go and hostess bars have many more girls than 10, but alot of beer bars have less than 10, so someone's "best guesstimate" put the figure around ten per bar as the average. There are a few hundred girls working in MPs and as total free-lancers (i.e., they aren't employed by a bar), but that isn't a big part of the Pattaya scene. A few years ago, the police chief of Pattaya estimated the number at 50,000, but he was referring to peak season around Christmas and New Year.

The figure for Bangkok is much more difficult to estimate with any degree of accuracy, not the least because the city proper has a population of 6.7 million. Guesstimates for the number of P4P providers who cater to male visitors from abroad vary from 80,000 to 200,000. In Bangkok, there is a huge "Thai only" scene that's lacking in Pattaya, but also a lot of crossover between the Thai and foreign-visitor P4P scenes. Last time I was in the Beer Garden, I met a woman who works nights at a Thai place on the outskirts of Bangkok, but comes into the Beer Garden during the day when she needs extra money. And in Bangkok, there are more "occasional" WGs, but not nearly as many as in the imagination of some punters. Most "occasionals" were once full-time P4P providers but then got married or found straight jobs, yet backslide from time to time, depending on their need for fast cash.

Keep in mind these estimates are for the number of women working in P4P on any given day. Over the course of a month or a year, many more women will pass through the scene, but they won't all be working at the same time. A lot of TGs try P4P a short time, hate it and never go back. Others may devote a few months a year to working in P4P to earn money, but spend the rest of the time with their families in their villages.

But to answer your question about the total number of P4P providers in Bangkok and Pattaya who service the non-Thai market - the range could be between 110,000 and 250,000. In the end, it's all guesswork, as there's no really accurate way of determining the number.

Reading Kenster's post started me thinking. About three years ago, I tried Amsterdam and went with a very attractive young woman with a pretty face and model-like figure. The service was terrible, so I swore off Amsterdam. Out of curiosity, I tried Amsterdam again about six months ago and the service was quite good. I would like to recommend that some members try Amsterdam and report back, because it seems like it may be on the way up. The reverse seems true of Poseidon, so I agree with Mick that its best days are probably behind it. About seven years ago, when I first visited Poseidon, I was really excited when I saw all the beauties in the Model Lounge. I tried one girl who was in the Thai version of Penthouse magazine and another one who was very pretty. Service was OK, but not great. I was disappointed, espcially since the price was fairly high (about 4,000 if I recall correctly). Some people have indicated that service in the Poseidon fishbowl is better, so I plan to check that place out on my next trip. Sometimes I like to go to the downstairs restaurant at Poseidon, because I like the band and the food is pretty good.

I've usually had good service at Nataree, and I especially like the soapy body massage on the mattress. Even at Nataree, though, I've had bad service once. Although I'm always tempted by the young cuties who are sideliners at Nataree, I've never actually gone with one, since I heard that service was so-so. I would appreciate a report from anyone who has gone with the sideliners.

My experience has been that luck has a lot to do with finding a good experience. For example, one of the best ones I ever had was at J-! (aka Chao Phaya-1), which has had very mixed reviews on the board. Another good one was at the now closed Atami which was on Petchaburi. It also had mixed reviews, but I found a real winner. Luck and personal chemistry have a lot to do with it.

The one place I have never had bad service is at Tulips. The rooms are terrible and the atmosphere is gloomy, but the girls make you forget all that. What I do now is take a Tulip girl back to the hotel, since the cost is not much more. It's always a great experience.

I have also had good luck with freelancers from Angela's Disco in the Nana Hotel, Bier Garden Soi 7 and even Thermae. I think the reason is that you can talk with them for a while, see if there is chemistry and get a good feel for them before you go back to the hotel. The only bad luck I've had with freelancers is when I pick too quickly. I see a beautiful, young thing, am swept off my feet, immediately make her an offer and head for the hotel. In these situations, I'm disappointed more often than not.

I'll be in Bangkok in a couple of weeks, so I would appreciate any suggestions from members. Besides recommending a place, I would appreciate a name and number of someone you've enjoyed if it's been in the past year. Interesting question but almost impossible to give an answer. The situation is complicated when one realises that many working girls have in excess or 1 punter per night.

If, for example the ratio were 2:1, then that is the simple answer. But most bar girls will only go short time and either return to their bars looking for more punters or freelance. Massage girls regularly entertain 3,4 5 or even more punters each day, as do the freelancers. So availability might possibly be double or more the basic ratio of working girls to punters.

Added to this is the fact that some non-Thai males, especially tourists, will also punt more than 1 time a day.

The main thing is that it would seem there are more than enough to go around!

Rajah Hotel for Eastern European. I did a Turkish girl and Russian CIS girl on my last trip in 2007. Service levels and enthuasim were low and they seemed very unhappy. This trip I did not partake. I do use the Rajah for internet and many of them use this at night so you can checkout the goods before committing. Since the girls are no longer on display in the bar there is always a pimp on duty sitting on the couches. Just loiter around, give him the 'look' and he will be right over to take you upstairs. No takeout service available. There are some stunners around but don't go in expecting a positive correlation to price and service. Cost: 2500 bht last visit in 2007.

In regards to the Grace hotel there are many fat arab or 'stani chicks of an unacceptable quality for you to peruse. I picked one up last visit but they tend to be hard nosed bitches. Not recommended.

I've cured my itch and will stick (it) to thai only.
