Found this girl on a free social network site; when we met she looked like a teenager so after she tells me she's 23; I ask for I'd and her passport reveals she is 20 yo. After leaving La Paradise Inn, we hopped an STC bus to Cape Coast and Elmina and toured the castles, beaches etc.
The Elmina Resort was a dump (or at least the room we were in) , but otherwise a nice looking resort. In cape coast we stayed at Prospect Lodge which was not bad for 45 Cedi per night (AC, Queen bed, good water). Mighty Victory hotel had good reviews on line but did not stay there. Beach was about 15 minute hike from Prospect.
At Prospect, weird, they put a sheet slipshod over the mattress and no cover sheet. I figure I'm going to be brushing my balls or a hole against a bed spread that might not have been washed for weeks. I call and tell them I want more sheets and give the housekeeper a few cedi which turns her frown into a glowing smile. Mosquitos there too; glad I was taking my Doxycycline and amasterone plus or whatever the hell it's called. White boys don't have the Sickle Cell trait to help them out when the P. Falciparum and Anopheles start to get thick.
Left cape coast, back to STC for 11 am bus and the lady who told us 2 days before that the buses were reliable and never full now told us the 11 am bus "did not show up. You can come back later at 2 pm". We caught a taxi to "FORT" private transpo, nearer into cape coast town center. Paid 7 Cedi and left in a 14 passenger van (with AC) that got us back to Accra in just under TWO hours. Driver was passing a lot of folk, but seemed competent so the short transit time was nice. BTW, FORT trans is a little service station looking lot with gas and some vans; the boss told me as I walked up "4 more seats left. You pay 28 Cedi for 4 and we will go right now!". I looked at the van which had 10 people already waiting inside, politely declined and as soon as my gf paid the 14 for 2 tix, they closed the van doors and we were on our way.
Back in Accra, we stayed at His Majesty's hotel which was easily the best hotel of the 4 we stayed at. A little pricey (150 USD) , but it was a nice way to wrap up the last few days. We spent our last day on Labadi beach and that's a very nice beach. 5 Cedi entrance fee I think (gf handled all the small payments) , tho they hand you a cold beer on your way in.
