Certain interesting articles in reputable periodicals about the Crown Prince have been censored in Thailand. In 2010 Australian TV broadcast a program about the royal family that included a rather revealing video about how the Crown Prince's Royal Consort chooses to dress, or rather not dress for birthday parties. There is reason to speculate who will be the successor.
I strongly suspect the PTP (aka Red Shirts) versus NPP (aka Yellow Shirts) conflict will play out in the streets and may turn violent, even more so than in 2005-2006. As this is an internal conflict, I doubt there will be much anger directed towards foreigners, either resident expats or tourist (mongers and otherwise.) Keeping your head down and mouth shut will be wise; but recall how much the occupation of the airport rattled the Thai Volks. They tolerate us and love our pounds, euros and dollars.
As was the case with the monk's death, the music, lights, and naked or near naked dancing is just too much in a time of mourning. Nana and Cowboy will close for a while. Though I understand Patpong was not shut down on Friday night. Interesting. The clubs may also be required to close. I doubt if the beer bars and massage parlors will be closed.

At they disco the ladies pay their own drinks and try to have a good time even without a customer. They may also decline your invitation for whatever reason.
