I have never had a problem, and my trips to Rio are generally around 3 to 4 weeks per time and 3 to 5 per year. At the same time money would not be handed over to a so called mugger unless a gun was involved. I do have a money belt, but only wear it when I have large sums off money, not a few thousand.

I have the same belt and I carry about 5-600 reais, but the problem is the same, where is better to hide them ? In more places for sure, but the best ones are where ?

It's amazing that some Senior Members here still don't know that Jackson quarantines or confines "contributors" like Macunaima/Quincas in their own thread and disallow them write anything outside of it, not to upgrade their status, but to let the other sections clutter free of all their endless controversial nonsense.

I always carry some underneath the insert of my shoe. I also have the belt like you mentioned. Just don't forget where you hid it. If the room doesn't have a safe you can tape some cash on the bottom of one of the drawers in the room. It would be found if someone thought to look there, but in the quick pass that the cleaning crew does or anyone else it works.

Ok I'll bite. Seems like strange behavior for a place going out of business doesn't it? This has been going on for 20 months now and last year they did a major renovation inside the club, they knocked down the stage and built a table area with stairs going up to the Balcony of free feels.

Now you say they're painting, sprucing the place up some more. It almost seems like an act of defiance, to say to the Governor of Rio, you think you can close us down but you can't. This is a very confident ballsy move, no wonder these guys have been hanging on for so long, looks like they have friends in higher places than the ones who are trying to shut them down.

Or maybe they're just cleaning up for the Olympics.

By why walk around with large sums of cash (anywhere). If you lose it or you get robbed it is gone for good. I know some termas charge a small fee for using a cc - but it is worth it for me. It is also a deductable business T&E expense for me as the bill shows up as "Harry's Bar" or something similar.

If I am heading to VIPs - a taxi is involved all the way from my apartment. And I don't have much cash left on the trip home!
