Another question of cash to Euros
Forgive me if this has been commented on previously, but I can't find too much discussion on the topic of how to minimize cash access issues when visiting FKKland.
For years I used to stash dollars in an envelope and save up for periodic hobby holidays. The advantage was no paper trail on large cash exchanges. But changing cash is getting harder, and the rates and commissions really take a wallop on the amount available.
A few years ago opened an online checking account linked to a brokerage account with a well known discount brokerage. It comes with an ATM card that rebates all atm fees and pays the posted daily exchange rate between dollars and Euros. Between this and my regular checking account ATM card, I can usually afford a day at the races.
But I do get nervous taking out the max from both cards every day. Mostly that someone will look at my records at some point and wonder why I needed 500-600 Euros per day while in germany. I am thinking of opening a third brokerage / checking account with Capital One so I can rotate a bit more between the accounts on a daily basis.
Anyone have any suggestions on how they manage their cash flow issues when on a hobby binge in Germany?
Many thanks,
Mango
Any suggestions in Dusseldorf or Frankfurt to exchange US dollars €s. Also avoiding paper trail. I will also use ATMs.
