From my latest BKK stays (8 so far this year and still more coming) I feel BKK is the same as before if not better. My experience with BKK is atleast somewhere around 70 visits last 8 years (until end of 2012). The girls I get comfy with perform good in the sack and gives GFE / PSE and more than LT sessions (if I like). They did 8 years ago and still do. The latter years the FL scene is blooming more and more from what I can see. When I speak of FL scene I do not speak of streetwalkers. Only girls hanging in nightclubs and simular venues.
I do invest a bit time into screening and chemistry building and NEVER discuss any money issues. If possible I let girls choose me but the other way around also works well. I can not remember having a girl starting to discuss her price expectations this year (ex one time visiting Spanky in NEP). As a resident I find it far worse. The FL scene is only good at the perceived "high-end." Girls that used to be in Thermae, the BG, and the street are now going to the higher end discos and getting far more money. Good for them. But I for one am not going to pay that kind of money for the same Isaan girl in a little bit better dress. Still a gal with a sixth grade "edumacation."

With the economy in good shape, well perceived good shape, and workers making a living wage, they don't tend to come out much anymore.

I liked hunting the late night FL scene from Sukhumvit Asok to Soi 11 and back even if I was not really into getting laid again. First I would check out Thermae and then later make it over to Soi 11. If I did not pick up a girl in Climax, I would walk back to my hotel and usually stop off for a night cap at a friendly roll-away Sukhumvit street bar where I had become friends with the bar girl that worked there and that I had shagged one time. Anyway I always saw some acceptable girls in Thermae and received a lot of smiles and invitations, but I never saw a girl I had to have. They all seemed a little drab and mostly sub-par Go Go quality to me. Then one night a gem walked into Thermae. She was an 8 and she was dressed fine. Girls you describe from Thermae (semi pros) are mostly the kind of girls I end up with. And even if it is hard to categorize all the girls in a venue I have still no problem finding them or the other way around. Most of my take outs have work or they need some extras for their studies or both(they seem educated, speaks fair to good english and are well behaved). Surprisingly many drive their own cars these days so maby they also need fuelmoney / morgagemoney. When you describe your high end discos I presume you mean places like Insanity, Climax, CM2, Spasso, Mixx, Shock, Bossy, Thermae (approx 1 year since I did a pretty good take out from the left side lined up girs) , Levels, Q-Bar, Bash? From those I only rate A few of them as high end(Levels, Bash, Q Bar). To me the high end clubs are located away from most of these FL nightclubs and cater almost all in to regular Thaigirls (hiso, middleclass girls). A bit more complicated in places like that but take outs can be had but here some personal game comes in handy and ofcourse some girls are looking for sugar daddies as well.
I see more ladies these days in mentioned FL places and one reason could ofcourse be that more and more girls leave the bar / gogo scene as they want to work indipendantly(i could ofcourse be lucky with time and place but i do not think so as i visit them places quite regulary). But the semi pros are still out there and as easy to locate as before (my experience). I would rate the prices of many of those clubs as "high end," omitting maybe Climax and Insanity. Drinks are at Western prices and gals are asking in many of them close to what you would pay in the West. And yes, I would say many of the gals there are looking for sugar daddies and are not quite good looking enough for well to do Thai guys.
To me 100 USD (3k) is a lot of money to pay for a ST experience. In fact when you account for currency changes it is 4X what the average ST was 10 years ago. LT, I could see it, but then again I have a live in here and do not take gals LT.
Of course I also don't enjoy the music in discos and have no desire to hang out drinking with a bunch of gals. The "party" aspect has just become less appealing.
Now if there was a great bar that had hundreds of craft beers, bands like Wilco playing, and working girls, I would be all over it.
