Good luck
Sounds like you are on the right track. The places mentioned are the best choices of cases and the only ones that I am aware off that have a high number 10+ chicas at a time. The Facebook chicas are not escorts. They are regular girls that moonlight. Some are pros but from my experience they are regular girls. Try Lleras at night there will be plenty to choose from. Hide your stuff with them since you never know. I recommend to get into a whatasapp group that can help you with connecting with the surplus. There is several out there if I remember correctly. I haven't used them in a while.
Mansion 2 is a bit of an uphill hike most chicas will complaint and may not go by foot, just FYI.
Centro can be very dangerous specially at night.
If you stick to the Casas that you mention the "gringo" thing won't be an issue at all.
Many thanks to those who contribute to this valuable forum. I'm heading to Medellin with a friend next month for 4 nights and doing my homework, RTFF. I'm a middle aged gringo, conversational Spanish, my friend is originally from Colombia, both experienced mongers. We are staying at Mansion 2 (1 was booked) and we are short-time, high volume mongers, no GFE, Facebook girlfriends for us. Escorts aren't really our thing either but photoprepagos looks like a solid Hale Mary option.
For a 4 day trip, my plan was basically:
Loutron. I know it's an inconvenient clip joint, but got to try it at least once.
Energy. I figured this would be our go to spot.
New Life. Second "go to" spot.
False II.
Luna Linera.
Ejectiva & Maracaibo.
Mansion girls.
I'the like to checkout Mayorista though it looks like limited options when I explore it on Google maps. Parts of Centro I would be fine exploring in the daytime though the areas on Google maps that I see the highest volume of working girls, seem a bit sketchy as I can't really blend in. I'm not an easy target, but certainly an obvious one.
I guess my question is, since Energy and New Life seem to be racking up the poor quality reports as of late, what are some other quality casas we can hit? Doesn't need to be "top shelf" with 9's and 10's (rarely good in bed anyway) but I'm not looking for a glue sniffing tranny on De Griffe and 54th either. Has the talent moved elsewhere? What are some other midrange casas with a decent lineup, reasonable prices, and a gringo won't stick out like a sore thumb?
BTW, it really sucks the Medellin is the only map on here you can't access without a paid membership. It's not the $20 but us married guys can't risk the wife seeing a suspicious charge on our Visa statements.
Thanks in advance.
The loss of a passport is an expensive inconvenience. Depending on your travel schedule it can be a very very expensive inconvenience. That is as bad as it gets. The immigration police tend to perk up when a foreigner answers the standard "which hotel are you staying in" question with "I'm in an apartment". There is no front desk to call for passport information. I see no downside to carrying a copy of your passport photo page and your entry stamp. I only carry my passport when I am using it to cross a border. I haven't had police problems after presenting other ID. I've had people tell me they were detained when they couldn't produce a passport. It hasn't been my experience; I think there are two sides to every story and something more than lack of a passport has been at play. This is only my opinion. I once had to accompany a co-worker on a side trip to Bogotá so he could replace his stolen passport in time to catch our flight home. It bummed me out because I had to cancel all the weekend dates I had lined up in Medellin after a tough week of work. Now that was inconvenient.
We were stopped by immigration police. They were interested in seeing our stamp to make sure we did not overstay. None of us had passports on us so they called the hotel since they copy everything when you check in. I would not walk around anywhere with my passport and risk losing it. I think in most countries they give you reasonable time to produce it if need be.

...I would start my day at New Life. Calle 56 #43-39. Most taxi drivers will know where it is. Just tell them la casa de chicas con la puerta azul. Scratch that. I'd start with late breakfast, early lunch at Delicias Al Natural Carrera 43 #55-35. Great cheap food. From there, turn left and walk to the corner, turn left on Calle 56 and just a little way down is New Life. Just go through the blue door. When you leave New Life, go back to Carrera 43 and go north to Calle 56. Go left and look for the red door. It's in the same place as New Life, just a block north. That's Aiffe, Calle 56 #43-27...
JjBee62, you would have guys walking around in circles chasing their own tail trying to follow those directions. The address for Aiffe is Calle 57 #43-27. So when you leave New Life, go Cra 43 to CL 57. At least your red line on the map you included is correct. Good information in the rest of your post.

Newark to MDE
Hi, long-time member who hasn't traveled for a long time to Colombia and could use some advice.
I'm planning a trip to Medellin next month. I'm trying to make reservations from EWR and have run into a problem. There are no direct flights and 1-stop flights seem to take forever. JFK would be a better option but it's a super hassle to get to. I'm considering flying to Bogota and from there, Medellin. Does that seem like a good option, time-wise and from an economic standpoint? If so, should I wait to get to BOG to book a flight to MDE? What airlines is recommended. Or is there another recommendation?
Thank you and I promise a full report!
I have a question that I should already know the answer to, but I'm not really sure. Or maybe just in denial.
What basic rights does one have walking outside in public with regards to privacy?
Can the police search you for no reason? Can they look at your phone? Can they just go into your pockets and wallet as they please?
I ask this because I stopped by the mansion in a taxi to pick up a friend. I got out, walked to the gate and before I could even ring the bell, I was confronted by two aggressive police officers who bombarded me with questions. I responded politely to every question. Meanwhile, one of the officers puts his hand in my pockets and pulls out everything I had.
EXTREMELY Uncomfortable situation! Not to mention the cooperation the mansion doorman! I had to repeat at least 6 times, I was there to pick up a friend and even by the doorguy I was treated like some kind of criminal and liar. WTF.
Needless to say I will not be returning to the mansion any time soon!
But my question. Do I have to let the police search me? Don't they have to preface the search with some kind of justification? I really want to be prepared for this in the future! Liek maybe take out my phone and start recording because I really felt like I was at their mercy.
After a lot of drama, my friend came out and the door guy apologized. Her guess was the cops were looking for a reason to blackmail me.
Are you 100% sure they were really cops? There have been stories of Colombianos impersonating cops to pressure tourists into paying them off. A couple years ago, I was leaving New Life and two dudes approached me saying they were police and I was doing something illegal inside. I didn't believe they were really cops so I just ignored them and kept walking, but I can see lots of guys not doing that.

Medellin casinos.
I did some internet searching of casinos in Medellin and found 3, they all have terrible reviews.
Is casino gambling that bad and basically non-existing?

Connect in Miami unless you are willing to use Spirit or Jet Blue. Those airlines schedule flights between the American and Avianca arrival slots.

Cost was approx. $80 USA, I bought the ticket online ahead of time at Avianca's Colombia based website. I read that just searching and going to their international website results in a gringo tax (higher price). If you google "Avianca" from abroad, you'll be directed to Avianca's international website. But if you simply correct the end of the URL into "en-co" so that the domain will be http://www.avianca.com/en-co/ This will allow you to book the internal flights in English, but get the Colombian prices.
In my case, to save having to fly back to CTG when leaving, I got a one way flight to CTG, and also one way back to USA When departing from MDE.

If you want to fly to Bogota and then switch to a local airline to fly to Medellin you have a few choices. Viva Colombia is cheapest. It's their version of Spirit. They add on charges for everything. Most comfortable is Avianca. I've always had plenty of legroom on Avianca flights and I never have enough legroom.

100% sure? No. How could I be 100% sure?
I have been stopped in other parts of the city as well and asked to see my ID and to look in my backpack. Also happened a couple of times when getting on the metro.
In this particular situation, what really got me upset was that on top of the bombardment of questions, one of the cops was an A hole and literally stuck his hand in my pocket.
So I will ask again in a slightly different way, if anyone has a sure answer. Can one say "no" to a police search on the street?

In my experience they start all pissed off like that and then completely change demeanor. He was looking to frighten you into handing over some cash to leave you alone. In my case the cop said: "That's not your cell phone" and I showed him how I unlocked it with the fingerprint ID. That made his partner laugh.
You got a shakedown. That's all.

Thanks for the responses on the EWR to MDE question. I guess I need to look further for those under 8 hour 1-stop flights. All I saw was 9+ hours, many with overnight layovers.
While I'm here, can someone point me to a thread about hotels in Medellin?
I'd like to hear more about the Mayorista. I understand its not a bad place, though it might look that way. What's your take on it?
It's a safe enough area, lots of cops around as well.
The problem is the girls are not that good looking.
Mostly plain and chubby girls, and some old hags.
Used to be a great place, maybe 5 years ago or more.
The city, Itagui, did a cleanup and all the hot girls left, never came back LOL.
