When you buy gasoline tax is included in the price advertised. In England McDonalds does charge advertised price. In Florida, no.

But whether businesses in the US use deceptive pricing pitches and upselling tactics, and they do. A friend of mine thought he was getting Internet service from AT&T for $60 per month and got a bill for almost $200, so dropped the plan. Maybe he was stupid and naive, but there was organized trickery involved. So, yes, hookers will often try to screw you over, but that is business everywhere. My last airport parking was advertised at $4 per day, but they charged $6 when you got there. Boo-hoo.
