I was going to get laid and nothing was going to get in my way. It's a ghost town then and the only girls I could find were street girls in Centro. It was a bit intimidating, no store open, very few people around. And my Spanish was very bad. It was not a problem.

But, I'm an experienced monger who has spent years in developing countries.

I see worse scenes in any entertainment district of Southern USA cities on Saturday night, then in Bogota or Medellin. Nothing is more obnoxious to me than a group of noisy drunken American youngsters, in their country or, even worse, in European tourist cities at night.

I enjoyed this. It was a perfect sarcastic summary of the fear mongering. It is 100% true there is potential danger but I don't judge it to be worse than what you find in sketchy areas of any major city. What sets the Medellin Centro situation apart is some of us have never and would never visit sketchy sections of urban areas other than Medellin. That can be a dangerous situation. Spanish helps but situational awareness and avoiding dark and lonely areas at night help much more. If I had to choose one or the other, I would give up Spanish fluency in a heartbeat.

I am not a guy who likes nightclubs or hardcore partying, would prefer to sit in a nice bar and chill. Have read that nighttime action is not very good as Colombian girls like to hang out with their guy friends!! So what chances do I have of a night?

If you sit in the clubs, the music will be loud, but there's a fair chance, depending on your appearance, one of the "semi-pros" will make her availability known to you.

Where there are clubs there are also bars, quieter and more relaxed. However, you won't find much available talent unless you flag one down walking past.

Get numbers, make Facebook friends. You can easily have more girls lined up than you could ever get to. Your best route to avoid disappointment is to set a wide window. If you really want a girl to meet you at 8 pm, tell her 7. She might show up at 7, but chances are she'll be there closer to 8.

I am visiting Medellin and Bogota in 6 months. I decided to go on cupid for a month membership just to see what I am dealing with and interact with women in both cities. During this past few weeks, I have had some phone numbers given to me. Some for dating and some for PFP. I never told women I was 6 months away, but for you guys that have visited multiple times, so you notice if these women change phone numbers all the time, or do they usually keep the same number? In the states, its unusual to change a phone number where I live, but when I went to Ukraine, girls seem to change numbers every 3-6 months.

Might move up to a 50K one next time I am there. 97K is out of my price range. You will be close to the casas and strip clubs, but since you don't like those, what kind of action would you be looking for? You might come out better emailing the hotel and asking if they are girl friendly. But in that area and at that price range I would bet they are.

The ones that are not born with shapes are usually in line to buy them. So unless you can reach them before they reach the plastic surgeon's office then you will probably be out of luck. And if you do happen to find one then they will range from $12 at a casa to $52 from facebook.
