That's the who purpose of dual SIM phones, which is why any dual SIM GSM phone you see will be unlocked from the factory.

I didn't know this and my Colombian cell broke, so I was forced to use my ATT phone for 2 days. I made about 4 short phone calls and a few texts, and paid $90. US carriers rip you off even more by charging for outgoing and incoming calls.

Get a unlocked GSM phone. Buy a local sim card (Tigo, Claro, Moviestar) and put 5000 COP (less than $2) for each day of your stay. You will have enough voice and data for 1/10th the cost.

You can get a dual SIM version S7, save your configuration and settings of your current phone and transfer almost exactly as it is to the new phone. You could keep the mifi for home use and you would have a WiFi hot spot in your pocket wherever you need it.

My opinion is all those number are extremely high for Medellin. I'm told there are many English speaking people among the clientele, employees, and owners.

But it is as close to a guaranteed good time as you can get.

Like I have said before. The Mansion is the first place a newbie should go when he gets to Medellin and the last place a guy who lives in Medellin full time should go.
