Rule 1: Never take the Cubana out of Cuba.
Want to see what North America does to them ? Go to Miami.
There are a handful of good restaurants in Havana. You just need to find them.
I met a guy in Montreal once who brought back a Cuban wife. They have been happily married for ten years. Don't know if this is the exception or not.
So what's with the Cuban women in Miami?

They rot in customs!

In other words once they get in they totally change and become rotten just like the native women. In spanish it sound mush better "Se pudren en la aduana". And to multiply that exponentially, she is from Cuba! No way man, they are the most shysters out there. Never trust a cuban woman, remember their culture is tainted by soviet era morals. Please don't get me wrong they fuck like animals though. I have travelled a bit and this is rule number one for an american, atleast. Never bring a girl in that can not come in by herself. If she is a successful lawyer in country X and she is making a sacrifice that is one thing but if she is desperate to get out, she will do or say almost anything to whomever to get what she wants.
I know someone who sponsored a girl from Colombia to come visit him and travel to Disney world together. They went and had a good time. When it was time to leave she said she could not pass up this oppurtunity and had someone pick her up at his house and dissappeared. Now he can't sponsor anyone, not even a fiancee for ten years I think it was.
That sucks!

Miami is where they all end up after leaving the spouse that got them into North America.

Yea, thats right!

Is this suggesting that we should just regard Cuba as strictly a monger destination and the women (including the non-pro 'civilians') there should never be trusted for serious relationships?

But your clearly naive in the ways of world outside the US.
I live in Costa Rica and am in the cigar business. Many of my clients in the states send money Western Union to pay for cigars. Without fail, every time I go to the office I see a girl there picking up money from some gringo she's not fucking anymore. Sometimes handing it to the deadbeat she is fucking. You seem to fit this profile, so let me break it down for you.
We in this hobby, male and female, are professionals. Provider and monger alike. What we do with these ladies is a business transaction. To them, and to us. Some of these ladies are good at what they do. But make no mistake, it's still business.
I've eaten at restaurants that amazed me. But never did I feel the need to pay the check, then send the restaurant money over and over again after I'd left. You should take this approach when dealing with working girls, especially in Cuba.

Yes, I undertand this. But I'm asking about the non-working girls, ie., the ones who work in 'normal' jobs. Just trying to compare them with the usual non-working women in North America.

Question: How are you going to find the normal girl when they don't speak any ingles, don't frequent tourist areas and you are there for a week ?

Good point. I'll have to stay for longer than a week and focus on the girls who work in the tourist areas, like this hostess at a restaurant I met who spoke pretty good English. There were several Cuban ladies at the conference I attended there and most spoke passable English - in fact, 1-2 of them were English teachers by profession.
But then again, comparing them to say the normal girls in North America, it might not be worth the hassles ...
-
Generally speaking, ingles is an opportunity to advance in tourism. German is good too.
You said normal girls. Normal girls do not speak ingles in the way that normal girls in any country (with no immigration) don't speak a second language unless your profession dictates it.

Cuban women are smart, sexy and hardworking however they are also devious and cold at the same time. Any foreign man in a relationship with a women in Cuba must take control of the relationship immediatley. You must read them the riot act and if they break the rules. Kick their ass out. They will respect you more for it- its a macho thing.
Once you start spoiling them with gifts and money, its over.

I lived there for a time in 2006/2007 to study Spanish. I did have a couple normal Cuban girlfriends while there. Yes, they were everything their American sisters were not. Any inclination I gave that I wanted sex was met with an active sexual response then and there. If I kissed her neck, she unzipped my pants.
But you absolutely MUST speak Spanish for this to be possible. If you don't speak Spanish, you have zero access to this. Any girl going with a guy she can't communicate with will be about the dollars.
You seem to me like a guy looking for something more genuine than a working girl. The game in the US/Canada is so fucked up that many guys lack that intimacy and affection 3rd world men have come to expect. But you are searching for these things in a pay for play community. Which is the entire opposite of your goal.
If you really want those things, take a Spanish course now, invest some time in the type of women you want, and travel to these places and put in the time needed. Otherwise, don't kid yourself.
Strip clubs in the US are filled with guys dumping their paychecks into the g-strings of pseudo hookers trying to turn a ***** into a housewife. They conjure up these fantasies about meaningful relationships and fixing these broken broads, and in the end, some heroin addict at home she's supporting gets the guy's money.
Don't be one of those guys.

I believe the chance of finding a Cuban girl to have a relationship outside of Cuba when you are only going there occasionally is 100 to 1.
Notwithstanding the fact that 9 out of 10 girls will only be interested in using you to get to their extended family in the US, it is not practical to meet a woman a few times briefly and know that you are suited for each other. How many girlfriends in your own country have you broken up with after a few months of seeing each other every day?
Even if she is sincere, the culture shock and being away from her friends and family are usually a lot tougher than any one expects. Especially as Cubans have close families.
The only chance of having a successful Cuban marriage is for foreigners who actually live in Cuba and can date the girls for a long period first. Even then, 80% of foreigners I know in this situation have subsequently separated with their wives.

Does anyone have a casa they can recommend that serves good/clean food? There are just too many of them. Also how do I know if they register girls or not? I want a casa that does not register girls, for obvious reasons.
Thanks in advance.
