It amazes me that guys leave their homeland in search of a beautiful girl who wants to spend time with them but they all of the sudden develop morals and care if she is a pro or not. We are on vacation why cares? The shit they pull on these girls they would never try with success in their native land but now they turn judgmental. They act like these girls are the villains, but the guys use their power (money) as a tool, something that wouldn't fly fly in their homeland at the same price. It reminds me of the kid in private school who can't go outside and play because he gets beat up, but then goes to his private school and wants to be a bully.

See, this is why I like true freelance bars where drinks are reasonably priced and they don't charge extra for chicas' drinks. Argentina began enforcing this, as charging more for chica drinks is a form of pimping or profiting off of prostitution. But for example Bar Malibu in SJ, Costa Rica, a very fun place, has cheap drink prices for everyone, so I am relatively free about buying beers for chicas. That place is not strictly working girls, either. The WORST situation, for me, is in places like México, where the chicas get a 'ficha' (commission, essentially) for every drink they can convince you to buy. So in places like Malibu, if a chica asks you to buy her a drink, it's probably mostly because she likes to drink. I can relate to that. In México they give these little itty bitty chica drinks, or sometimes it's not even really booze in there. Fuck a whole bunch of that shit.

I go for a beer after work a couple times a week, whether I'm in Sosua or not, don't need no miserable guy in a corner hiding from the owner because he's not buying, trying to psychoanalyze me, while using the restaurant venue to scoop up spare putas. Probably stealing the condiment packages off the table too. There are folks like that who complain when they are asked to leave.

Actually when I'm in my favorite bar with female friends having fun over a couple beers, There IS usually some guy nursing a water or coke eyeing us, hoping for a spin off. Trying to hang with our crowd. I know the type well! and so do the owners and staff.

A newbie reading these posts would be led to believe it will take a 7 year apprenticeship before you can be truly successful with a Sosua puta.

I can see why there's so much negativity on this board, a lot of guys still have no clue what is actually going on in the brothel we call Sosua.

I agree with what Oakie says, that it ain't that complicated in Sosua, Praise be the Lord! However, over several years, I have read accounts of people here who were self-admittedly "drunk" and as we know bad things happen in twilight foreign lands because of lack of lucidity. As Grownup man wrote and I experienced, the women don't even finish their drinks. So it is more about men drinking and not so much about picking up women and for the record, I enjoy offering a drink, if I am drinking. Perhaps Nordico is right, it is more about bonhomie among males that is the true reason for a trip to Sosua together, and / or bragging rights?

In any case, traveling always alone, I cannot profess to have any special insights on the subject and, I like a drink every now and then but if I go to the DR, I find the women alone are sufficient to keep me "drunK" so I find this fire storm somewhat beguiling.

Or even having a bottle of Presidente while eating lunch and enjoying the breeze at a caseta on the malecon on Puerto Plata. People can do what the hell they want, but remember this discussion was started by Grownman explaining that he didn't go out on the hunt until very late at night because if he went earlier, the women were wanting drinks. Yes, Virgina, we all know that getting drunk is not good. We were talking about the merits of an occasional social drink for oneself while on holiday, and buying one for a prospective business partner (aka hooker).

Do you not realize that without the drinkers, your "bars in Sosua that have little to offer other than a line-up of prostitutes" would not exist and thrive there or anywhere else in the world?

Tell us again what kind of place Sosua would be without Classico, Bermuda, El Centro, Rumba, Bourbon Street, Meringue, Baileys?

If so, what kind of questions did your mates ask about your sexual experience the night before? And I am not sure what you mean by losing face in front of their friends. Most people who travel in groups to Sosua are Black. Black people are used to talking shit to each other and having shit talked to them even without hookers being involved. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you you guys know I really appreciate the information you have provided on this board. I will be visiting July 1st-5th and am staying right in the heart of Sosua within walking distance of the beach and all the bars. I have been researching over the past couple weeks and have looked at Campo and Curacao, Blackbeard's, the all inclusive resorts, ect. I was planning on going the safest route with one of the all inclusive resorts (being a Gringo) or Blackbeards, but I really want to experience Sosua. I certainly will be careful and have a good head on my shoulders but still excitingly nervous about my trip. I am going to continue to read up on the board and learn more before my trip, and luckily who I have rented from is from the states and has been traveling to DR from 20 years now and lived in Sosua for 2. He has offered to be my guide in the city. Anyways, thanks again. Now back to doing some research.

I do have a couple of monger friends, one of whom lives in the DR, and occasionally we will discuss chica behavior and relationships, but mostly we talk about other subjects of interest. The reason I would not travel with other mongers is that I would not want anyone in my family or my work environment to associate me in any way with prostitution, which although it is legal in the DR, is illegal where I live. And anyway I would not want to be associated with sex tourism either, and would not want my bosses or subordinates on whom I have to produce regular performance evaluations to have any idea that I was not a straight arrow person. Once, a few years ago, I believe I did miss out on a promotion opportunity because of rumors that had circulated about me having had an affair with a married woman over whom I was in a supervisory role, although somewhat indirectly. So my feeling is that it is necessary to maintain very strict barriers between leisure pursuits and family and work, because even someone who is sworn to secrecy may blab under the right circumstances.

In my earliest days in the DR I never wanted to travel with anyone, because I wanted to immerse myself in the language and culture of the DR and go days or weeks without speaking English. Anyway I have lived for an extended period in the DR, so I would have no need to travel with anyone.

I would be more likely to buy her a sandwich or a beer at the cabana, if that is what she wanted, but mostly they don't really want the beer, though often they are hungry. I don't believe that alcohol makes the sex better, in fact I think it makes it worse, especially on my side, and I don't care for chicas whose breath smells of beer and cigarettes. I do not need alcohol for beer goggles to have sex with women whom I do not find attractive. I select women whom I find sexually attractive. Of course this is purely a personal preference.
