They have chicas on site and is not as expensive as those all-inclusive tourist traps in the DR. Lost my DR Cherry there on my very first mongering trip out of the US, met some guys there who heard about some place named "Classicos" in some place called "Sosua". We took taxis there the last two nights of our trip and the rest is history, LOL!

That would have been the safe bet on my first trip, but I am always a "grass is greener on the other side" kinda guy LOL. I know it would have eaten at me that I didn't go to Sosua and see the best action. I guess I could have taken a taxi to Sosua one night like you guys did, but I like knowing I am within walking distance of all the places I need to be in Sosua and have no need for taxis / motos. I have a feeling I am going to be falling love with the DR (but not a chica) haha.

I think you are making the right choice. Sosua offers so much more than BB. Once you experience Sosua you do not need BB. Once you know how to ride a bike you do not put the training wheels back on.

Think of Sosua as just a bigger version of Blackbeards but with many more options, choices, activites, MPs, and decent restaurants. I'm wondering how I'd feel at BB if the guy ahead of me decided to take the two hottest chicas for a day or two and kept me waiting :)

If there wasn't a Sosua, you'd need a Blackbeards.

I went to Blackbeards on my first trip to the DR and I also had a guide with a car who showed me round the north coast. At that point in time I did not speak much Spanish, having 6 weeks of study under my belt, and although I had traveled the world extensively and been to many countries, I had not traveled outside the US, except to Britain, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, for several years and knew absolutely nothing about Dominican culture, food, or anything. I would not go to Blackbeards now, but at the time it was perfect for my needs. If I had gone to Sosua straight away, I might have been overwhelmed with the culture, language, food, and, of course, the women. Now I speak Spanish fluently and my whole perspective on the DR is very different from on my first visit.

My Spanish is very good, but I lack the patience to play games, and trips back and forth from clubs to my hotel.

Personally, I've tried Sosua, and BB, and my taste runs to BB.

I usually recommend BB, especially to newbies, for its convenience.

Many tout the "hunting" process, "game" etc. I usually have limited time, and lack the patience for trolling the bars, playing games, etc.

I usually compare it to fishing. Some go for the "fishing experience" and landing a good one for them is most of the fun. Sometimes you land a beauty, sometimes nothing, the catch is "spoiled" or poor pickings.

I, on the other hand, go there to spend my time "eating seafood" not spending most of my time "fishing. ".

Some call it "spoon feeding" as a put down to one's "game" skills. Screw that, if I'm on vacation, spoon feed me.

If I see one I like, its a short stroll to my room, versus taking a motoconcho back to the hotel, check in, etc. Cuts into my "eating seafood" time.

Despite the recent bad experience one guest had, covered on the BB thread, over all, the quality control at BB is good.

You'll see lots more reports of drama queens, "starfish" poor performance, scams, etc on the Sosua thread than on BB.

Bad experiences at BB are rare. Drugs, theft, scams, etc are a good way for a girl to get barred. No one is going to call the cops on you. Not the chica, not the hotel.

You also have the benefit of regular STD testing (I have watched chicas handing their papers to a mamasan, and driven a chica to her med appt).

To each his own. Try both and write a report on your experiences.

I appreciate all of your thoughts and advice fellas. I am definitely not fluent in Spanish but its unbelievable how much I have learned in just a couple days using google translator to talk to girls on whatsapp. I will certainly report on my experience and I do think I will split the trip I take after this one between Sosua and Blackbeards. This go around I will be exploring Sosua.

I learned all the Spanish I need to operate down there by operating down there. Due to lack of education, most of the chicas use a very limited vocabulary, and even many of these few words are either misspelled or otherwise are not formal spanish and are not translatable, say, by Google.

I started off with some online lessons, but soon gave up when the chicas didn't understand the words I was using. So I get by quite well with just what I have picked up, except I can't understand rapid conversational stuff (although I can pick up the gist of the conversation).

I agree learning the language is very useful, like any second language, but unless you are going to spend a great deal of time there, or are in love with a professional, it is not really necessary for the casual monger.

(Now relax you guys, this is only MY opinion!)

Not the bastardized version popular among the putas.

And no, I don't believe Domincans can't understand "the TV news in their own country" That's just silly! Hey they can even understand me :)

Is it your first time to the DR? Reason I ask because it's very tricky for newbies. Miss the turnoff and you are back in SD.

Got to Sosua around 4 pm on Metro bus from Santiago. 220 pesos. Did not have much food during the day and so went for dinner at 6. The French place is Open. It is called Carpe Diem, opposite side of Mama Juana. I had a slice of veal with my favorite vegetable side dish (the veg on the left and right sides of the meat- a medley of zucchini, eggplant, bell pepper, tomato and so forth) The check was pricey. Red wine, beer, excellent bread, appetizer of endive with Gruyere. It came to 1300 pesos. Things were slow at this specific restaurant but anyone interested in French food, and / or Fish, do go and look up Etienne.

Sorry to interject with my non sexual theme but I love food as much as sex.
