Yeah, I know, I'm a teetotaller, what do I know about beer? Nuttin' however, at Ayala mall Grocery in Cebu yesterday I took stock of available suds for you gentlemen.
There was a mini keg of Heineken for P1459
Bottles of Carlsberg in the P250 plus range
Hoeegarten from Brussels @ P275 a bottle
Ottingers (many different varieties) @ P60 a can
Found a few cans of Tecate, some Singhai from Thailand, Japanese Karin and of course some chinese brands.
Most of the importer groceries like Ayala, Robinsons and Rustans carry foreign beer, varies from store to store.

As a sideline to the beer discussion, when I lived in the UK, I was into home brewing and made some pretty decent suds. I also made some mean homemade wines including a saké that would blow your socks off.
I’ve often thought about having my equipment balikbayaned out here so I can recommence my mad professor experiments and maybe brew up a decent pint of warm English ale. And I imagine you could obtain some interesting wines using local fruits.
Two things stayed my hand
1. The weather. Would the warm and humid air make it difficult to obtain consistent results? I’ve had disappointing results from my bread making efforts, also I believe down to the climate.
2. The law. Wasn’t sure about the legal situation. Didn’t want to get busted running an illegal booze making plant.
Any ideas?:D

Cheap outsourced labour has been found repairing broken electrical cables on Qantas aircraft by stapling the wires together. Yes STAPLED as in office paper stapler.

But for those who care, San Miguel have recently come out with an all-malt premium beer which might be OK. The new Spanish restaurant up on Perimeter near Cottage Kitchen seems to have it, and apparently pretty good food too.

but when i moved to saudi a man obviously needs a drink now and again. and the process was simple.
buy grape juice, but sugar, buy large plastic container, get yeast, stir daily. and after two weeks, home made wine. tasted ok, but better when cut with sprite. maybe can start a wine making industry in phils too. lol

When I was in the USAF, a stunt like that could get you shot. One Avionics Tech got a couple of plugs in the wrong place and a plane crashed killing the pilot. AF tried to charge him with manslaughter.

Over past year have seen lots of whingeing about Cebu Pacific and their website, difficulty in booking flights etc.
So, having had chats for a year with a sweet young thing from the south, and after she had assured me that I could do " absolutely anything " with her, could dress her up in "absolutely anything" and take all the pics I wanted I proceeded to book flights for her for a shagfest later this month.
Credit card procedure was fine, and readily acccepted, until the calculation for costs page.
I'm booking for a service in Phils, have an address in another Asian country, and paying for this with a credit card issued in HK.
The page says do I want to pay in Pesos or in home country currency.
It had calculated the home currency based on my address. And so an airfare of US$ 90. Could potentially have been charged at US$ 240 if I had elected for the payment in home country currency. Strange

you got to understand all the crazy stuff that is going on with credit cards, banks, the phils economy etc i suppose. not to long ago i was going thru cebu pacific to book a flight and they would not longer accept credit cards so i had to respond in person to buy a ticket, i hate that with all the pushing and shoving at a counter to get served.
what i hear via the grapevine is cebu pac got their credit rating zapped coz they got burned too much over credit cards, so they limit it to international flights, don;t know if that is correct.
the other thing you got to account for is the forex currency rates which change hourly for usd vs peso, lately it has been moving between the 48 and 47 mark, a few centavios can throw the exchange rate off.
cebu air is still the best as far as varying flights and timliness better than pal which i will never fly again.

(only in the philippines)

There have been lots of complaints on this forum about credit cards with cebu pacific.
I have had the same problem in the past.
However, rather than whinge, I went to my bank when I got home to find out if there was a problem with the card.
The teller checked, and said no problem.
Just on a whim, I asked if I could see the information that they had on record for my credit card.
She turned the screen around, and I was stunned. Most of it was different to the info tht I had put on the card application, and therefore that I was putting in the payment info.
They had made abbreviations which are not standard, had capitalized some words, and had got some info wrong.
When I asked her for the formal name of the bank she actually got it wrong. She said ANZ bank, which is what I had ben using. However, when I did some investigation, I found that the formal name of the bank is Australian & New Zealand banking Group Limited. So, no wonder my payments were having problems.
So I copied it down, and use this info whenever I pay for Cebu Pacific.
I have not had a single proble, or refusal since.
So the answer is for you to do the same.

I actually had my credit card rejected the first time I used it with CP to book a ticket a few weeks ago. I actually looked at my online bank account info and I didn't type my address exactly the same either. I took out the # sign out of the condo number and it worked just fine. I think you have to have it EXACTLY the same in both places I have used a mastercard and a visa from the US to buy the tickets since fixing the addresses.
