Hi,

For whatever reason, and we don't know many of them, saunas shut down now and then -- for a day a week or a month. Call them and they will tell you if they are open. Call the manager at any sauna before you go. Saves a trip.

The "real deal" high class escort is not something that you easily find here. If it does exist...and I'll bet it does...then it's probably very private. I'm not aware of any networked corporate services like this in Shanghai.
The closest I've seen to high-end take out is at the bat in the Shanghai World Financial Center. Under the right conditions (they trust you, know you, and you ask for some overnight company) the staff just might have the phone numbers of some high-end treats. Probably will be Russian or Easter European. Not Chinese. This is not surprising given the wealthy clientèle in the building.
But as for high-end Chinese, I'm not sure they have that.
A theory...and it's only a theory. The best of the best Chinese girls can become the second wives of the wealthy Chinese. They don't have to learn English if they are second wives. They have mega cash flowing to them and don't have to worry about much else, except looking like yummy arm candy when she's with her money-man and he's showing her off to his friends. Kind of like a nice car, watch, or other accessory.
Note: My rich German friend used to call these girls a "Plaza 66 B***h". He had one of these who was a Thai girl living in Shanghai. That lasted about a year until she burned through a $100k in shopping at 66 and then got stingy with the sex. Go figure. But I digress.

Well, your theory is incomplete; they had to come from somewhere. Generally, the answer is that these types are found in high-end KTV's, because that is both where they can make more money and where they can most easily find husbands or boyfriends.
They are not rare at all; in fact they number in the thousands. But you won't find them on English websites or in foreigner focused bars (or generally in bars at all for that matter, though there are some upscale bars, using the term loosely, that stock model types.)

the real high end can be insane especially in shenzen. makes the venus agency look like playschool. for one its never advertised and members invites are from word of mouth only from other members. the initial fee for entrance is 200000HKD and up dependent on the organization and type of girls available. the top tier members only club has minor actresses and HK models (generally well educated girls). Just recently, there was a big scandal about a high-class escort service ring in China, I think it happened or was discovered in Chongqing. It also included some stars and starlets, which you eventually could book, for a certain price.
I think one or several Hong Kong or Mainland starlets are actually still under investigation.
And there is this rumor, that there are clubs or agencies in Beijing, where you can even book dates & more with real stars, as long as the price is right. Well ... at the end of the day, the whole movie and entertainment industry in China and HK are in the hand of the Triads, they decide about careers, and I could imagine that this also includes requests for "special services".

1) You will never see them in a line-up.
2) They are private stock for the really high rollers. You need to go there with one of these guys.
3) Many are booked by phone in advance.
4) Minimum is 1k RMB sitting fee.
5) They never go out the first time you meet them
6) They charge 10k RMB and up for FS and they expect expensive gifts on top.
7) As a laowai, you have little to no chance of doing them.
8) The best ones end up as second wives pretty quickly.

My experience is that this is true...sort of. With some of the guys I roll with who are KTV frequenters in SH (3-5 times per week most weeks for several years,) we get these types in our room almost every time. However, they do not charge us any extra for the sitting fee, and generally they are 4000 to 6000 for take home. A buddy and I once pulled a couple of them for free out of Jin Bi (a high end KTV on Huai Hai lu.)
I don't doubt at all that there exists exactly what you describe above (I've heard of this but never seen it,) and perhaps what I'm thinking of here is a middle tier. Since none of us are looking for xiao tai tai's, maybe that's why we always end up in this tier ...but I really don't know for sure since I never asked.
Btw, regarding "high end," personally I and several friends have enjoyed from time to time working on the mama's. When we score, which is a low hit proposition but it happens, we never need to pay anything ... it's just good times had by all.
But I imagine that most often, especially for noobs, the best bet for stunners is just choosing them off the line up or asking the mama to get someone special and telling her you are willing to spend more for the girl, tips, etc...the more you indicate, likely the better you'll get.
