DS[/QUOTE]I will still be using taxi to and from the airport. Unless really pick the wrong hotel, should not be too difficult to avoid the shutdown areas. I might avoid staying in Soi 19 as its just to close to the Asoke intersection, and not on the airport side of that intersection.
East of Asoke intersection say Soi 31 onwards should be okay Soi 22 was still usable as of last night.
As I don't monger at Nana much, I don't have much problem as yet. I should have checked out Cowboy last night but was too lazy to get down there. Oily MPs could see a boost in business if guys start avoiding the bars.
The Bangkok Post reports food courts in malls, fast food outlets and street stalls are doing an excellent business selling food to protesters. It reports the street stall vendors in particular welcome the rallies because they are so good for their business. Earlier I was watching the Landmark's live webcam noticing how little vehicular and foot traffic there was along that stretch of Sukhumvit. Tonight I've noticed they've changed the camera's view so you can no longer see the empty street and sidewalk.
I've read on another website Nana is empty, Soi Cowboy is slow and there are few ladies at either. I bet the MPs around Phrom Phong are thriving. The ladies who can't (won't) go to work in the gogos must be going somewhere working as FLs. They've got to eat. I wonder where they are?

2. Is it true that taxis are operating subject to the many blocked zones?
3. Is it true that pedestrian traffic is possible, even though the blocked zones?
Can you please confirm / comment? This seems to me to be crucial to transferring between the airports (mainly BKK) and lower Suk.
From a hotel around Soi 22 or Soi 31, one can keep oneself pleasantly occupied for a long time.

DS[/QUOTE]It would be very unhealthy for the protesters to sit on the tracks of the BST or MRT and they go either over (BST) or under (MRT) the blocked intersections. Of course, even more people than usual will use them.
Taxis are still operating, but whether they get you anywhere in a reasonable time, is a guess. Use the public transport, Airport Link, BTS and MRT. Much more likely you arrive within a reasonable time.
I don't think it is a good idea to walk through the occupied zones. Farang tourists have nothing to do there.
