Anybody know any good places for Texas Holdem in Medellin?
Not at all. I only use my Schwab debit card for overseas ATM withdrawals and have not had any problems all of these years. I also use my account to send out my bills. Anytime I make a purchase in the States or abroad I use my Amex Platinum so that I can accumulate points then I just pay that big bill when it is due.
I do the similar thing. I have $ in my Schwab checking & 0 in the brokerage act. & have used only the debit card for ATM withdrawals for years now, no problems. I then use a AAdvantage card for AA miles for purchases in the states.
Anyone for any massage rec's for non-sexual massages?
I have been researching and found someone with great reviews & excellent deep-tissue, trigger-point skills. Her name is Leidy Madonna, but the problem is she's traveling in Europe until January.
I have begun researching massage therapists in Medellin on Google & Tripadvisor. I have an idea of pricing & types of facilities available, but have not yet decided on a particular place or therapist.
Do any of you guys get therapeutic non-sexual massages in Medellin? If so, please give me your recommendation. I will be more than happy to let the therapist know your referred me if you like. I am looking for one of two things:
1) Trigger-point massage done by someone skilled in releasing tendons & ligaments.
2) Swedish massage massage done by someone so well you practically fall asleep.
Because of my bad back I get a lot of trigger-point massage here in the USA, and I am used to a strong massage that actually hurts for a few days after. I would love to find someone in Medellin who can do that. However, I would be more than happy with an excellent Swedish massage therapist as well.
Please provide name & location of therapist as well as contact info. I do not have to go to a fancy spa. I understand that many independent massage therapists work out of small shops or even their own homes.

Buy far the best way to get money in Colombia is using ATM's. .
Sure, in Colombia and in 99% of the world. Amazing that this topic has to be addressed again and again.

I am sure everyone here has experienced Colombian girlfriends asking you to send money for many reasons. I have been asked for the following: My kids need money for school, or need money so girl friend can pay for school or need money for rent or food or medicine for her or parents or grandparents or kids. Need money for an operation for her or a family member. But today I got a new one. Please send money my mother is in prison and I have no one to take care of my kids now? I am trying to find out why mom is in prison?
Got to agree with you. And by paying off the girl for her fraud, you are contributing to the perpetuation of the problem.
And my point is that you are warning about a non-existent problem. This isn't Russia you're talking about. And the scenario you are painting is the product of an imagination gone unchecked. Any WG misrepresents their appearance is going to have to expect a lot of doors slammed in their face. Seriously, how many punters do you know who would go along with that nonsense?
The facts are I am a Gringo, in their barrio / city / country. They have a gazillion times more friends than I do down there & all they have to do is make up some BS story that even the cops would believe, then I would be in a world of grief. I am not trying to be a fear monger, just giving an idea of what could happen. I hope I am 100% wrong and that it never happens to anyone.
You do what you want to do, more power to you. I will continue to try to not [CodeWord140] anyone off, even if she lied or put misleading pics up. There are other ways to expose her such as posting on here. Which I do everytime I feel a chica has lied or misled me.
Anyway, good luck and like I said, I hope no body has to feel the repercussion of a Paisa who has had a door shut in her face or is miffed about a wasted trip and taxi money, albeit her fault.
Happy Hunting to everyone.
El Mechanico.
Does anyone know if the casas en Centro are open on festivos (public holidays)?
Thanks.

However, about 10 years ago when I was living in Indonesia, a girl sent me a text asking me for money for an operation. I wasn't in country at the time and hadn't seen her in a while so I just disregarded it. When I returned a couple of months later, I found out she had died. I now think it's "normally" foolish, but there are occasions where it's justified.
None, and I hope I never do! My point is it's best not to close the door in one of them's face and send her home with no money..........(make mad) one of these girls off or try to not pay her and see how far that gets you! Sooner or later you will run into one of the girls that has her brother, cousin, Boyfriend or a guy friend that is involved in her business.
EL Mechanico.
She may not need a guys help, US citizen was stabbed to death in Medellin last year in his hotel by a woman he took to his room.
I personally know three expats that live in Colombia that have had their accounts closed for the reason I stated but whatever.
What's wrong with actually using Schwab's brokerage? I have been with them for a few years now and haven't had any problems. Am I missing something? I moved to them when I found out about the ATM reimbursement and no foreign exchange fees.
I googled it out of curiosity. It costs them about $600 to gain a new customer. So ATM fee forgiveness might just be a promotion to attract customers. Maybe people who travel have the characteristics that Schwab seeks in their customers. One guy read the 10-K report and found that they have 10 million customers with 2. 7 trillion in assets. So the average customer has $270 k in their account.
I recommend finding a debit card that has no foreign currency exchange fee and forgives the ATM transaction cost. I use Schwab but you need to open a brokerage account to get the service last I checked.
I use credit card not big on loan but might look into debits cards now if I can find one offers reimbursement from Scandinavia. But usually when fees are high I take extra couple of dollars that keeps running a couple of days.
Buy far the best way to get money in Colombia is using ATM's. They will give you the best exchange rate on average and if you use a debit card from fidelity or Charles Schwab they will reimburse your ATM fees. For purchase use a credit card with no foreign transaction fee or cash.
Wiring money with Xoom or Western Union is a bad idea because of the fees and the an exchange rate that is not as good at you get at ATMs.
That makes sense thanks for the feedback, I just thinking about the safety when withdrawing from an ATM. Also I have a visa credit card from a European bank so I expect some fees depending on my bank.
I meant debit card where I said credit card. And credit where I said debit.
Anybody know any good places for Texas Holdem in Medellin?
Casino Rio. Monday thru Friday. No games on the weekend.
It seems they have 2 games. One is 5-10 COP no limit. That is a good game. People call all ins with draws. I got very unlucky there the last 2 times. Lost huge pots to flushes. Other game is either 1-3 or 2-5 no limit.
I could only find 1 poker room in Medellin. Please report back if you find another one.
