Having landed in BKK and suffering from jetlag I decided the only decent thing to do would be to visit my favourite massage place in BKK. Sazanka. Got there quite late (9. 30pm. Once again a tipping discussion. I think that overpaying by giving huge tips is just silly, it will just encourage double pricing and raises prices for everyone. Tips ARE NOT compulsory in Thailand, this is Thailand, not US. For a good service, a 5-10% tip is sufficent.Also, please keep in mind Thai wages. How you can feel sorry for the girl which makes a more than a 3-4 daily minum wage in just two hours (600-800B)? If the girl gets 800B per customer with tips, has 1. 5 customers per day and works 25 days per week, then she would make 800*1. 5*25 = 30000B per month. That's more than 6 TIMES minimum wage and a more than an young worker with a master's degree from a good university would earn. And all this with just 3 hours of work per day (1. 5 customers * 2 hours/customer) instead of 8-9 hours per day for a normal job.Here are some personal experiences: last year I went to some MP where I paid 1400B for two hours/shots (happy hour discount), the performance of the girl wasn't very good (no BBBJ etc.) and I was a bit frustrated. Still, because the girl tried to please me, I gave her a 100B tip, she was VERY happy about that, clearly she wasn't expecting any tip from me.Someone asked about the normal procedure and number of shots in soapies.
