Good dialogue gentlemen, but the silence is deafening...
... The Cane dismisses BB's writing...
Just to be clear, for me, (The Cane or anyone else can speak for themselves), the "dismissal" of Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide), was largely due to VB1's hypocracy w/r to "age old information" and his prejudicial judgment, over it coming from one source verses the other.
I, was not "dismissing", The Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide), as I know it is still useful and has value to some BMs and yet not so much for others. Nevertheless, it remains "one of many sources of information" and it's relevance or value, is accessed according to each individual's mongering travel goals, needs and priorities.
But the sad fact is, the The Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide), barely registers on most mongerer's radar as a "go-to-source", when mongering in Brazil, these days.
... And I know of one senior member who actually quit the board altogether. He stopped posting and got rid of his account (the last time I searched for him I could not find him here). ...

Come on, this is just ridiculous. People leave forums for all kinds of reasons. I don't know how thin-skinned one must be to get rid of his account just because he's gotten in q(uarrel)...

As ridiculous as it may seem, it's the truth. And I have zero reason to lie about it. Now, I won't reveal the member's name publicly because I don't think he would want that. I will say that I didn't believe him when he told me he was out of here. I didn't think he was going to do it, but he did, and he said it was because he thought VB1 had ruined the Brazil section over a two-year period, ...

Last year, I was conversing with a member who wrote some great posts last year about Rio. He had become a target of animosity. He and others joined an infamous member's posse for a ride around town. His crime was that he was underwhelmed with some of the venues on the itinerary and politely posted such...
Xpartan, both, The Cane and Wyatt Earp, have responded to this with their POVs, insights and knowledge on the matter and I found their post to be illuminating and has peeked my curiosity. I can't speak to this topic and have no first hand knowledge to share.
But it is a VERY INTERESTING topic of concern. Perhaps raising the question:
Does bullying/extreme quarreling lead to quitting ISG?

Or is it more than just quarreling?
Hopefully, it would provide more POVs from more BMs and more answers?
... Annoying or not, he brings a lot of useful info and valuable datapoints for those 99% of us who travel occasionally and can't just move to Brazil.
Agreed! VB1's intel on several things, have been very beneficial for me personally and on occasion, I have found his POVs to be of interest. Although these days I just "ignore" much of his posts (as I am sure he does mine).
Although, that is not currently what I was debuting here (at least not by me), I understand, much of the dialogue presented will often "spin-off" sub-categories/issues. This can be a good thing, most times.
... You want to come at me Nounce in a proxy war? Then you had better come correct and drop the bias that keeps you overlooking the transgressions of VB1 and Sperto while criticizing me. That's been tried many times before. It always fails.
Cane, while I agree with your sentiment, the use of "proxy war" (albeit probably just a "turn of phrase"), sounded a bit too nuclear (...kkk), but I get your drift. "Dust-up" works for me.
My intent here, isn't to malign or disparage anyone. It is to simply clear up any misconceptions and provide "context" and "clarity", w/r to The Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide), and to give BMs an opportunity to present their POVs and air their differences.
Hopefully this round of discussions and dialogue has done just that.
NOTE: This topic is still open (as far as I am concerned), if other BMs, still wish to weigh-in. Although, I have to admit the silence is deafening coming from the "peanut gallery".
Who is the hypocrite? Say it with me now...
I think that's not the history with me. My post can be read independently on its own...
Oh! You may want to re-read, what you wrote. Here let me re-post:
"You know those things are totally unrelated and it sounds more like you are your own slave, right? You also know if it takes even longer for you to visit Brazil, you will become Bubba boy 2, right?"
Clearly you're missing the point, AGAIN. I'll say it AGAIN, If I or anyone here weren't already clear, the whole history, gripe, grievance and bellyache, surrounding the Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide), is with regards to VB1's inconsistent, in congruent and hypocritical stance on posting "age old information. " Yet all the while he was pushing and pimping a 10+ yr old document with 10+ yr old information. .
The Cane simply offered up the Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide) as an EXAMPLE of VB1's hypocracy. That's it! Simple, nothing more, nothing less! NO ONE pushing back was was dismissing the information in the Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide).
That is the HISTORY of the beef, surround the Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide).
When you use Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide) and The Cane's name in the way you do, MOST BMs (who know the history of the beef), think you're being disrespectfully and calling said BM (The Cane, or who ever that happens to be at the time) a hypocrite. Especially as it relates to posting and when the last time said BM was in Brazil and his information / experiences to report.
VB1 is the hypocrite (in this instance). Let's get that straight, ONCE and FOR ALL! It could have been "a holy book" written 2000 yrs ago, "as the the example", if that's what VB1 was pimping.
I think The Cane said it best:
... You want to come at me Nounce in a proxy war? Then you had better come correct and drop the bias that keeps you overlooking the transgressions of VB1 and Sperto while criticizing me. That's been tried many times before. It always fails.

... What I see is that TC is in a disadvantage position, and he digs his heels in. I underestimated the damage I could do and I did it intentionally to show certain aspect of things. I could apologize but as is he may misunderstand that I am apologizing something I am not.
Not sure what you're saying here.
I have to choose my words carefully in order to not cause more damage. I am not even sure if the word "damage" is appropriate but that is my best effort. I will have my tail between my legs go into hiding soon, hopefully with a newly-mint SB. hehe
Yes! Perhaps you should stop digging that hole, you are digging for yourself.
That said, perhaps YOU SHOULD EXPLAIN, how you are using the reference and / or relationship between The Cane and Bwana Dik guide (aka. The Bubba Boy Guide)?
"You know those things are totally unrelated and it sounds more like you are your own slave, right? You also know if it takes even longer for you to visit Brazil, you will become Bubba boy 2, right?"
So what do you REALLY mean? Especially now that I've explained it twice.
