After reading through this thread in detail and planning my mongering adventures in Barcelona, I find myself staying in Terrassa. Is there any action in Terrassa or do I need to take the train downtown? I do not have a car, nor can I speak much Spanish. What should I do? Thanks.

I am not a local, so I can't comment on action in Terrassa. But transport into the city is very good and I assume you are going to Barcelona to see the sights anyway, so I would concentrate on the Barcelona activities already posted. Most, like the apts and the Robador scene are active during the day. However others, like Bagdad, discos and strip clubs are very late night scenes and you will not be able to return since the last train is around midnight during the week and 1 am on weekends.

Terrassa does have an excellent jazz club which I highly recommend . . . for music only.

Attached is a Map of the rail system. I have highlighted Terrassa at the top and Castelldefels (location of Club Riviera) bottom left; both are in purple shading. From Terrassa it is the orange line (Sant Vincenc/Vila-Franca-Manressa) to central Barcelona and then the green line to Castelldefels.

I don't think the rail and metro lines follow the same colour coding, so don't mix them up (perhaps a local person may comment too).

I am unsure what the travel time is from Terrassa by rail to central Barcelona (Sants or Placa de Catalunya) but once there i'd prefer to take a cab to Riviera if in the late evening.

Riviera is definitely worth getting over too.

Below is a map of the southern end of the Ramblas. I have lighlighted the Sant Ramon and Robador areas in purple shading.

From my experience i found that the Sant Roman Area was the main location for Romanian Girls with a handful of latin and African girls. The other area Robador (about one minutes walk away) was an equal split between African and Latin girls (can't recall seeing any Eastern block girls).

Yes, you should watch out for the Morrocans in Barcelona (the Spaniards call them "moros", or "moors"). They are expert pick-pockets. Ditto the immigrants from Eastern Europe (Bosnia, Servia, etc.). Don't carry more money on you than you need, or hide it in your shoe or in a money belt. Don't carry a passport. Hide credit cards. These pick-pockets work in groups of three. Two will drop something (usually some money), and as you look down at it, the third will pick your pocket from behind. This can happen in the street, and especially in the subway. Be aware at all times, and you'll be OK.

Last I heard, a huge upscale hotel was being constructed between Robador and Rambla Del Raval. How is that project going?

Is located on Violant d'Hongria, number 17 I think, set back from the road and not so far from Estacion Sants. It is open 24 hours. I have been there a few times and never been disappointed.
