anyone know of any good parlors in Addis?
Try the massage in the basement of the global hotel. There used to be another place run by the same people in an apartment block on Bole Road. Just ask them where exactly.
I used to go to a place in Piazza in a basement with a russian masseuse, in her forties dressed in a white coat. Man she gave the greatest massage. She wouldn't always pull you off but often would and would always make you feel great. What a lady.
Agreed - the Global Hotel basement massage (plus steam bath & sauna) is very good.
I have had excellent massages with extras ... and have all been great !
Open for non- residents too.
Hi friends,
Next month I stay from Monday evening until Wednesday morning in Addis. I want to go out on Monday und Tuesday. What ist the best place to go to meet some girls?
Thanks a lot
Hi #1955,
I just returned from Addis three days ago.
The security situation is reported to be calm except for the Piazza-area and Mercato.
So after dark "Concorde" and "Memo" will be available as usual- and safe. They usually fill around 11pm to midnight, and are packed.
There is another club close by Sheraton, but I didn't check it out yet.
Will keep you informed- so long.
Thanks for posting pictures.
Where exactly isthe global hotel I have seen it but don\'t remember exactly is it off Bole road? How is the political situation in Ethiopia right now? I mean riots and protests or calm?
TP

If I remember correctly - the massage was 60Birr (6 Euro/ $7.5 !!)
and the tip .. up to you - I gave another $10 or so ..
I didn't see anyone mention this yet but there are now at least two ATMs that accept foreign bank cards in Addis Ababa. They are both Dashen machines; one is on the ground floor of the Dembel Building, towards the south end; and one is in the Sheraton. Dashen charged me $5 and my bank charged me $1.50 - much better than getting cash against your credit card.
Reading this forum, it seems that nothing much has changed in Addis since I was there as a backpacker 35 years ago. The prices of the girls seem actually to be about the same as pre-revolution. Then again, the economy has been deteriorating since then. Back then price for LT from the Ghion (night club) was US$6 which is about US$30 in todays currency. That was pricey. Sometimes one would encounter a half-Italian half-Ethiopian girl. A pretty waitress working in a coffee/beer bar was US$3 LT. I remember the women as being very good looking, evidence of which I have yet to see in this forum (not a criticism). I'm sure that you guys aren't meeting the best lookers.
Almost all of the girls who worked in the local hotels, local bars and coffee houses were rentable. It came with the job. In fact, often there were almost as many staff as there were rooms. It used to be that the lookers were located in the motel bars on the outskirts of town accessible only to the middle class with cars. Many local guys would disparage the bar girls, offering to bring you a HS student to your room for US$2.
In my opinion the best looking African girls are Ethiopians, and of those, the Afar or Danakil.
Ethiopia is a fantastic country, number one for its diversity of scenery, geopraphy, climate and culture. Get out and see it before it disappears. The girls are pretty too. Asmara was my favorite city of all time: good food and perfect climate. I'm told that it is a mess today, so I won't be returning there.
There is a downside to the country: bad food, lack of hygiene, many diseases, people who can be very unfriendly in some parts of the country, and Addis is still a dive according to a friend who just returned from the city..
A couple of questions:
1) Do many of the girls still have ugly crosses tatooed on their hands or foreheads?
2) Is the Rendezvue Bar (police, spies, prostitutes and criminals) attached to the Post Office building still in business?
Bye! I enjoyed the read.
Yeah, if you look all around internet (including my page: orithotel.at.tut.by/Ethio.htm ) the photos are never as good as the reality.
Nowadays (I been to Ethiopia 1 year ago) the girls working in local hotels aren't rentable. Of course, those working in the bars (buna bet) are.
Ethiopian girls being already exotic, Afar girls are extra-exotic. But Oh, boy, it must be so difficult to get one :).
Addis-Abeba is okey. Food is all-right. People are different, but you can get along with. Sometimes even very friendly.
BTW: I have completed a report for NGO about underLAC girls (it includes Ethiopia and Kenya) if anyone is interested in those issues (Laws concerning LAC, implimentation of these laws in practice, setups, places, ages, whatsnot I could sell this report for our fellow monger 15$ a piece).

Hello,
I remember always paying in Ethiopia 15birr ST and 40-50 birr LT for SW girls and it was quite nice.
I had been to Nazareth. It's a nice place. The weather hotter than Addis, it's less hilly then Addis. A lot of girls and a lot of girls of Tigrinnya tribe. 50 birr is the common price for a girl takeout LT from local Bars (buna bet). Generally a nice place. Its' 100km from Addis.
After I stopped laughing about half an hour later she got the customary 200 birr.
Anybody been to Nazareth? I'm finding some good contacts from there. It almost looks like daytrip distance from Addis.
Planning on making my first trip to ethiopia and was wondering how is the monger scene for an african american man? Any feedback would be helpful.
Planning on making my first trip to ethiopia and was wondering how is the monger scene for an african american man? Things may have changed, and your question is a good one. There are about 70 languages spoken in the country, and a whole range of peoples.

What is relavant and current is that any man (Black or White ) SHOULD be treated like a king if he has the appropriate $$ in his pocket. That is, IMHO, true the world over.
I'm Black. In my experiance though, at home (DC) I find Ethipian women difficult due to thier cultures restrictions, but not impossible. In Dubai it's nothin but love. Cold Prick (what a name), I'm anxious to read your report.

I'm sure that there is the odd GI who served at Kagnew who might care to comment. I have no personal experience per se.
