I was in PTY for Carnaval last Feb. My 2 wingmen and I went to Capri twice. Here's what I learned. They have 50 small rooms out back where the girls pay $200 USD month that includes basic utilities and a small bathroom where the plumbing actually works. Not sure if they have hot water. So I settled on Panama at the last minute. Through this forum, I learned my initial destination, Ecuador, had run out of electricity as a result a drought and their reliance on hydroelectricity. (Thanks again, ISG!) I made several calls to Ecuador and confirmed the electric outages were a real drag. Since United now code shares w/ Continental, I was able to make a change last minute from Quito to Panama. My only real guide was the Internet and ISG for this trip. What else do you need?

I split my time between Panama City and Bocas del Toro. I could have used a little more time to research Bocas but Panama City is well covered here and the advice is good. Here are a few of my experiences for future visitors...

I booked my first hotel, Hotel Andino, before I left. For about $40, it was updated, included Internet and was girl friendly. Despite being updated, I didn't like it and wanted something nicer. I popped into a bunch of places close to the Veneto. They all said they were booked but w/ some smooth talk they would say, "call tomorrow". It all seemed like a big game to get you to pay rack rate. I hit paydirt w/ the Hotel Avila, right around the corner from Andino and Avenue Peru. Brand new, super clean, comfy and girl friendly. Kinda like a Jr. W Hotel. $70 includes Internet and breakfast. I'm including the attached info because I still can't find any info online. A real find!

I hit the 3 main spots, Casino Veneto, Bodguita, and Habanos. There was a ton of action at Veneto the first time I went but every time after, fewer and fewer girls were there. La Bodguita gets going late. A lot of hard core gals there. I used my better judgement since I was usually a little tipsy by the time I got there so I never carried out.

Habanos was just fantastic! Low-key, friendly, relatively cheap w/ the same drink prices for chicas as dudes, the place has a great vibe to it. Also, it's a great place for traveling gringos to meet.
