If you go to Rio once, perhaps you can tell all your family, friends and colleagues. If you are going a second, a third or a fourth time, keep it under your hat as they say in English.

Mr. E if you are a Continental European, there is less sensitivity to the world's oldest profession within Europe. In North American, there is certainly a strong stigma attached to mongering except in certain small groups of like-minded gentlemen.

The truth is experiences with civilians can be different for each individual. It's not cookie cutter, it varies for each man seeking a non-working girl.

I have seen countless guys strike out trying to pull civilians either because they don't have the language skills or they think all brasilians are sex craved vixens who desire gringos. I have had tremendous luck with the civilians because I speak the language, I have family that live in Rio and my company has a huge office in SP. I am blessed to be introduce to women by friends and family and I have a great reason why I visit the country so frequently. Not all men are as fortunate.

I am not going to BS these newbies who don't speak the language and don't have any friends in brasil by telling them it's a breeze picking up females and you can pull any woman you see in the mall. Truth is, its not easy and you will definitely have your work cut out for you. Thats why those 20 year olds quit after a couple of days of trying and just went P4 P.

I see a lot of old gringos that are completely out of shape, poorly dressed and with no Portuguese trying to pull 20 something locals and it just looks pathetic. And to be honest it is insulting to Brazilian people.

By the way has anyone ever gotten the presidential suite in Panda Motel? My god! I had my own swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, small gym, cinema sized screen! It was amazing.

It has been about 8 years since I was last in Rio for some fun. Decided it might be time to relive some old times. Back then Help disco and the surrounding bars was where I use to spend my evenings. Definitely a target rich environment. Sorry to hear that Help has closed. Is there any bars or areas that has taken its place? It seems like most of the discussion on here deals with the Termas. Never tried them but don't think they're my thing. Kinda prefer the slower pace of a bar to evaluate prospects.

I also remember in Ipanema a bar called Emporio that was good for non-pros and semi-pros. Is it still there? Garota de Ipanema was always my favorite restaurant. I'm just wondering how much has changed. Is there still the ability to relax on the beach during the day and then hit a bar in Ipanema for semi-pro talent or hit somewhere else for a drink and evaluate what you want to take back to the hotel? 200,000 use to be the going rate for short time. Seems like it's gone up a bit.

I'm pretty sure these fit Brazilian dudes are having a good laugh at our expense.

Anyway, I took a top suite at Bambina also in Botafogo, Cubertura something. It's a duplex suite, very smartly designed, but no gym or screen AFAIK. Now that I think of it, it would be fun working out with your girl on that treadmill (don't know about safety issue), LOL. It was slightly less pricey than Panda, but 3 hours instead of 6. Better take 6, trust me.

These suites are a lot of fun, but I couldn't help but think how often they clean that pool and hot tub. And how many naked asses have graced all those seating surfaces before me. LOL.

But again, don't be a jerk and think every Brasileira is craving your first world awesomeness. Try to be subtle. They will appreciate some subtlety. Like every place in the world, if they are okay with your advances they will smile and send obvious cues. If not, move on.

Awhile back, wasn't there a member here who got kicked out of a mall for chatting up countless women? If the member is here still, I'm not trying to be a jerk. It's just an reminder to not be uncouth in the pursuit of Brazilian women.

He would pay them 2,000 R each and all the coke they could sniff. He loved that hotel.

You can approach any woman. The worst thing she can tell you is no. And you will never know what she will say unless you approach her.

One thing I love about Rio is that mfs sport shorts and flip flops every day of the year. Last Saturday was the coldest day of the year and I was wrapped up in my jacket and hat and folks were still out with shorts and flip flops. The city is super laid back with a bunch of regular people doing regular shit. Big contrast to some of these other threads where mongers are giving advice to wear slacks, a button down shirt, and penny loafers whenever you step outside in those cities.

I asked in the Portuguese words and phrases, but no one reads that thread, it seems.

Gents, if you take a girl to anywhere in Latin America, how would she fare, presuming that she only speaks Portuguese, of course? Would she be able to communicate? Not talking about complex interactions, but in tourist settings (restaurant / hotel / sightseeing).

First went to Garota de Ipanema in 93? It is still the same nothing has changed. The surrounding shops have obvs but the restaurant is identical I still sit in the same seat in far left corner. Happy days.

Every Brazilian I met was better able to understand me as soon as I switched to Spanish.

In 1993 Garota the Ipanema was very popular among papa-gringos. Lots of girls wanting to hook up with gringos and had sex for free. We used to call them the turma the batata fritas.
