The G Club situation in Bangkok
Political situatin is hitting these clubs. Rich Thais seem to even be distracted for the moment, and certainly the Japanese are less prevalent.
Not sure how The Pimp is dong these days, but the St Moritz (spectacular looking club inside and mere steps from Soil 11) seems to have a real lack of business recently, and except on party nights and a weekend there can be few customers. Closed Sunday nights, and nights after a party the girls don't even dance. They just stay in the lounge out of sight and at best, just do the parade through in front to the few customers present, and you can watch a band (their bands have hot chicks but tone deaf singers who cannot really sing). In fact the sound system playing the House music dance tracks is so good (world class IMHO) I'd rather listen to that system any day than a live band. Note there is no covers on most nights but drinks are 1000 baht and you have to buy at least one. Note that another G club The Resort (Ratchada) is now closed and replaced by a regular club ("The House")
In regard to G clubs in general, you are wiser to buy drinks for 2 girls at a time (yes very very expensive) but that way the girl (s) don't feel isolated, and the vibe will be better.
These clubs are about girls selling high prices drinks (and longer term for some) finding sponsors, although the girls initially work under the pretense of not being in the sex business. and if you're not a member you are generally not viewed as being around town sufficiently long to be a potential sponsor, so unless you're a young Farang stud or extremely rich, I don't think the odds are high for doing take outs, and you do risk entanglement with jealous boyfriends, and these girls got Thais guys their own age waiting in line.
Keep in mind with G Club girls they can tell their boyfriends they are not "working girls" and can make money just off drinks, versus Go Gos' where the boyfriend already accepts his girlfriend as a pro.
This is just my opinion based upon what I've heard, some from being in the clubs, and some mere conjecture..
