Biggest hit had to be in the convention business (corporate risk departments apparently deemed the situation too risky and just canceled per their contracts) This has hit the big hotels, and cut out some of the craziest and most reckless spenders. Result is a huge buyers market for mongers in town with hot girls seemingly available everywhere. For example Bacarra, which though a pain in the ass to get to from Soi 11 has had many non busy nights, with certain hotties not being barfined, and westerners seem to getting a lot of attention also. As far as Nana (Soi 4) nearly all the regular (non Go Go) bars (Hillary's, Morning, Night and so forth) seem to have 3 or 4 stunners and 5 or 6 fairly hot other girls available most evenings, and of course in Nana Plaza itself, led by Rainbow 4 and Rainbow 1, and some other clubs stunners and near stunners seem to abound. Although as usual the top 5% seem to keep pretty busy like #15 (blonde, nice ass, fake "C's" bangs, with hair to the ears) at R4 in part because she sends out a good vibe (good eye contact etc) from the stage to farangs of all ages and types. Nor does she act stuck up like that tall light skinned girl (as you walk into the club and she is on the stage,she is always on the extreme right) who seems to have her nose in the air, on stage and even in between sets. (Seems a bit counterproductive to making big money to look unapproachable all the time) For example on stage she never smiles and will rarely ever look back at a customer. In fact that dancer rarely seems to get barfined despite having a great body and decent face. Contrast that to "Mai" (#196) who IMHO has the greatest ass in the club who is always friendly to everyone including westerners, and has both a great sense of humor and and an engaging personality.

To those of you wondering if you should come to Thailand my response / opinion is 'why not'.

I live up in Esan, Nongbulamphu, but have been down here in Bangkok, minus any red clothing, for two weeks now.

I stayed in Sofitel Sukhumvit for a few days and a week in a smaller hotel 100m down Soi 19 and Sukhumvit. Right at the shutdown of Asoke / Sukhumvit. Now I am in the Grand Millennium which is at the tail end of the Shutdown Asoke area.

I am able to get around with no problems. When can you ever say you lugged your luggage behind you walking down the middle line of Asoke?

I have walked the Asoke Shutdown areas looking at the stuff they are selling but making it a point to stay away from any stage activities. Earlier today, Sunday, I met a sweetheart from the past over in Silom in that shutdown area. Again, not an issue what so ever.

I did not take a taxi into the Asoke area but used Airport Link for the first time and had no issues with luggage. It served its purpose quite well.

It is a great time to be here and no loss of finding good talent in Soi Cowboy or Nana. I can not speak for Pat Pong for that area has been off my radar for years.

I am well familiar with Asoke area and hoping to stay at Soi 23 Citadines 23. I often walk to Nana from here. Can someone please let me know if getting a taxi from airport to Soi 23 will be a hassle or cost quite a bit extra due to shutdown?

Or are there plenty of alternate streets for vehicular traffic to sneak into?

Also how is pedestarian traffic being affected? Can we still use the BTS walkovers to travel above the interesection?

Arrived BKK at 8:10PM from clk Friday night, went throgh customs in a flash and headed over to get my suitcase at BC. Nothing was coming off the belt so I walked to the ATM beside BC and withdrew B5000. I went back to the belt and my bag was coming my way. Made my way up to departure got a metered cab, after sharing a smoke with a driver, and off to the hotel.

Checked in my room, showered, changed clothes and was ready to head into the night. Add in another 350 for a ST room and you are 50 baht less than an hour at an oily where you will get a better looking girl and depending on the shop guaranteed performance.
