Really appreciate the info, thanks.
It's so / so, not to bad right at the park due to the police substation, it gets scarier every block you go west (above Ave Maracaibo ie Calle53) till you pass the Metro and it get real scary. I usually only go 1 block and a half to the strip clubs at night but I have been down that way on foot for dinner after dark a few times, seemed OK, but I haven't been there past midnight, if you want to be Casa centric would be good, for the strip clubs I would stay a few more blocks west, Maracaibo Ave or lower. I have considered staying at Hotel Cristal ($26) or Hotel Capitolio ($33-Cra. 49 #57-28) they are right behind the Catedral Baslica Metropolitana de Medelland (the big brick church at Parque Bolivar) side by side and share a small swimming pool.
More TS street girls in that area so check carefully.
If you do stay there the close good food is Versalles for breakfast -http://versallesmedellin.com/ at Cr. 49 #53-39 ie Junin Walking Street which dead ends at the south end of Parque Bolivar, Ostras Marbella for cheap seafood Cra. 49 #54-07 (south west corner of the park) and for a nice fancier dinner with balcony seating over the walking street with traditional dishes Hacienda Junin- Cra. 49#52-98 Junin Walking Street https://www.haciendaorigen.com/. While on Junin lots of good souvenirs in the "Centro Artesanal Mi Viejo Pueblo".
At Cra49 #53.
The first weekend of every month is the craft fair in Parque Bolivar, lots of cool stuff at a good price, I got a double person hammock for like 45 k.
I think the cabbies might like very short trips as the meter starts at like 6 k or something plus I tip.
Pics: Breakfast at Versalles and dinner at Hacienda. And gratuitous pic of Diana (60 k+- over in Raudal street block) she had the prettiest face I saw last trip, must get a pic of her face next time!
.
