The same were approved in 2018 in Michigan by voter referendum. This by the way is fully consistent with the SCOTUS interpretation of Article 1 Section 4 of the Constitution, which thus far has rejected so narrow a definition of the term "legislature" as to include only a state's representative assembly. This is based partly on common definitions of the world legislature at the time of the framers, and would include all legislature authority conferred by a state constitution, including a voter referendum.

Also in my prior post I had a link fail to function for whatever reason. But for the matter regarding Article 1 Section 4 of the US Constitution, and the refusal of the SCOTUS to interpret the term "legislature" narrowly as only a state's representative body, look up Arizona State Legislature v.
