I'd certainly want to live somewhere for 2yrs + before buying.
Financially, it's hard to see anything less than a 10 to 15 yr stay in one place stacking up.
Even then to me it makes no sense to buy. My buddy bought a condo in Thailand for $35,000 plus $1000 per year in association fees. I have pretty much the same size place and my rent is $1900 per year. I also have the flexibility of changing to a new place at a moment's notice.
I also have the flexibility of changing to a new place at a moment's notice.
An important point. Most new apartments and developments look great the day the keys are handed over. A year later the paint is starting to fade and two years later switches are starting to fall out of the wall and couple of lights no longer work. The build quality just isn't what we are familiar with in the west. I'll let the OP guess how much money remains in the sinking fund when these come due.
If he is looking for new-ish places then also go have a look at some 5 to 10 yo places to check what he is buying into. 😳.

Not sure what I miss more about Kokomo's:
1) The view.
2) The unusual conversations I had over the years with complete strangers who struck up a chat with me. One gent told me that he had been there for 6 weeks, and only been laid twice. He said the bar girls just didn't seem to like him. He wasn't too old, to fat, nor too stinky. How TF does THAT happen!

"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got ill it's gone" -- Joni Mitchell.
Personally I have never been a fan of kokomos, instead usually finding myself in the adjacent voodoo bar chatting to the chick there with the EE natural boobs. Joni mitchel was certainly right about missing those.
The girls in the pic look good. These are the girls to take back to hotel and let them shower immediately as they may have been walking past kokomos for hours.
For the gents that send me PMs about the condo idea, while my idea of grabbing a bargain sounded exciting, reality is if it's in the wrong place then it ain't worth it. I do like the idea of moving around.
Thanks for the tip. Kandi Realty website seems to be void of content.
My gut says "it's a good time to buy and get set for the recovery". My mind is saying, "don't put any more money into that fucking country and just stay in hotels".
Saw this online (see pic). Near Kandi apparently, complete with phone number. WC.

More bar shenanigans.
Morsels: Cute, hot, and hot. Mischievous, drunken nymphs. Cheap barfines. Evening and morning pop. The things I've suffered through.

Domesticating a bar girl
Has anyone had any luck domesticating a bar girl / philippina to become a good wife in a civilized country? I tried bringing one on a fiancée visa but ended up sending her back after she started getting an attitude and bossy after only 60 days.

A hooker to live with you? Seems you opted for the third and are willing to try the alchemy again until you get it right.
You have to choose what you want. You can't choose one thing with the hopes of turning it into something else. Would you really go to McDonald's and order a Big Mac and get it home and be upset that it is not chicken nuggets? Because that was exactly what you did in your failure to turn a ho into a housewife. Sir you placed an order for a ho, paid for a ho, and you received a ho. Where is the problem?

Started writing me letters and I met her in person on one of my many world mission trips.
Has anyone had any luck domesticating a bar girl / philippina to become a good wife in a civilized country?
Ever? Sure, I know I couple of bargirls who settled down to become soccer moms in suburbia. However, the probability is well against this happening. The vast majority don't and continue to seek the fast money, drugs and adoration.
Your money and time but it's far simpler to keep the two roles separate. If not, tread very carefully as the usual path is for her to stay long enough for a visa and / or divorce settlement then move on with as much $$$ as possible.
Good luck.
