Dirt bike/fishing options
I've been reviewing the Sosua posts for a while and realize that I will probably get bored with just drinking and sex every day for a week (thinking of 11/22/08 for seven days).
I'm an avid dirt-bike rider so wanted to see if anyone on this site has any insight on rental situation as well as riding conditions and options. From reading various websites, it sounds like the roads themselves are more trail than road. Do the rental places provide adequate safety gear -- i.e. helmets, pads, etc. or would I be better off bringing my own?
If there is a rental company or outfitter that someone can recommend, please let me know. I realize this gets off the track of mongering but I'll be doing plenty of that, or that's the idea -- just wanted to get insight from people with a similar perspective on alternative activities.
Also, I'm interesting in doing some fishing -- if anyone can recommend a particular charter or party-boat company, that would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Shafty7, look in general info section for answer
Your question about money has been discussed in the general info section. If you just read the last 3 or 4 pages you'll find out about the weather, cheap flights, and options for getting/exchanging money.
It would be hard for me or anyone here to tell you the "best" method since this depends on a lot of factors. If staying at BB without a car, you have to ask around for a ride to the nearest atm, or use a cab which is expensive. And since BB requests payment in full up front, you'd need a significant amount of cash up front.
In Sosua you will find many atm machines, but people have given different answers to the question of how much can be withdrawn each day too. Not sure of the maximum amount, it might just depend on your bank, or the bank of the atm you are using.
Some banks charge a "foreign currency" transaction fee too (I think HSBC does). It might be a few percent of the amount withdrawn.
Some have had technical problems. Either their bank at home froze the account or the atm ate their card, or it just did not recognize the card for some reason. Technoligy is not always perfect, and you'll be a long way from home where you can get these issues resolved.
Changing dollars to pesos is safe and easy in Sosua. If your motivated to get the best rate, I think you get a better rate changing at a local bank, not the cambios. Just be prepared to wait in line and have id to change money at the bank.
If you don't care about the potential extra costs, and are not at all worried about the possible technical glitches then use atms for all your cash. I personally bring most but not all of the money I need with me, then put that in the safe and use atms to add to my budget. This way, if I find I can't get the money I need I have a cash backup, and if my cards are lost, stolen, eaten by a machine, I can live on a budget with the cash I brought from home. I also bring 2 cards from 2 different banks in case one has a problem. And I have credit cards too for emergencies. You can walk into a bank with your credit card and get cash. Not a cheap method but could keep your vacation from being a nightmare.

Brothel-like establishments in Sousa?
Hi everyone,
I will be in Sousa for a few hours. Are there any brothels I can visit, since I will not have a hotel. What is the best/safest way to enjoy some fine DR ass while I am in town for a few hours. Any recommendations? Would prefer something upscale and safe if possible.
Thanks!
