LAN Airlines has acquired Aires.
I have also flown on easyfly. Com. Co and I have had the same good experiences. Usually Easyfly seems to be a little cheaper. I recommend both

Just wish they would re-establish their daily non-stops from FLL to Cartagena. When they operate that daily flight. Avianca trys to match the fare from Miami.
Hey guys, I joined couple of dating sites and I am getting many messages with word "Chaeter". Something that translates in Google as "Drink Wine". Their pictures look kinda like Semi-pros, more revealing than regular girls.
So sorry about the stupid question, but are all these girls really inviting me to drink wine, or is that a euphemism for semi-pros?

I have heard and read this many times when people talk about going to strip clubs or Casas in unsafe areas. I am in the camp that thinks this is unnecessary. Every strip club I have ever visited always has cabs waiting outside. As far as the casas are concerned you can have the madam call a cab for you, but to me that is not even called for as for the most part casas are open in the daytime so I always walk to the corner and hail a taxi. Now if you are talking about hiring a guide with a taxi, then that is a different story. You can let him wait all day for you outside and that makes sense. Also if you are with a group of guys then that cuts down on each persons share to pay your waiting driver, but then with a group with you I think your security is much enhanced, and again not needed.
Talk about trying to blend in. How many natives have cabs waiting for them?
Of course I am talking from my viewpoint, which I have seen first hand how many of these so called dangerous areas have lead me to have the best experences. Surely my advise is not for the faint of heart or those with money to burn, as most of the time you invite the driver in for a beer or two thus adding to your expenses for the outing.
There are plenty of tips for being safe in Country that have been posted many times that I feel are very worthwhile. Having a driver wait for you to me is a unnecessary expense.

Just don't pull a wad of money out or talk on your expensive cell phone on your way in and out and don't talk to any MALES on the street hahahahah and you'll be fine.
And don't be pulling out any big bills.
I was with a guy who paid with 100, 000 peso note. Lets say he lost about 88, 000 of that.
The waitress knew immediately when he handed her some of that money.

I somewhat enjoyed the Santa Fe area. I never went into the strip clubs. Instead, I'd frequent the many casas. It was an adventure walking down the different streets checking out the girls in the doorways. There were many gorditas wearing too much make-up, but sometimes there was a gem.
I normally went to Santa Fe around 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, but I preferred to go there during the daylight hours. Sometimes I'd hang around near the Calle 22 TransMilenio station and watch the chicas arrive. If I saw someone that I'd like, I'd follow her to her casa.

The translator usually has options to choose from when plugging in a translation.
Chatear = beber chatos. In Spain Chato is short for "Chato de Vino"= glass of wine. Chatear is to have a few glasses of wine. The translator is either set for European Spanish or auto chose European Spanish because Colombian Spanish on autodetect usually triggers the European version.

Sometimes they really do not have it
What to do? Carry exact change. Do whatever you can to get smaller bills and coins. Hoard them like gold. Always pay with big bills at the larger stores. Even if you are loaded with smaller bills in your home and / or wallet always do whatever you can to get more and more. The employess at the registers are TRAINED to do whatever it takes to get exact change from the customers. Like at the middle end places like El Corral, Burger King, Office Depot, Juan valdez. THEY HAVE it but it is a game here. They will ask if you have 2mil or 500 pesos. Tell them "No tengo mas sencillo" ("I don't have anything smaller"). Then they open the register and it is LOADED with mountains of change. Who's kidding who?
The taxistas usually have it as well but since they have a rich foreigner (YOU) in their cab suddenly they have no change. It is all to get you to round up. I am too old to play the game with them so I never leave the house without 20K in small bills (1k and 2k) and 3mil in coins.
If I am in a situation where I only have 20s or a 50 when the cab pulls over I tell them "solo tengo un billete de 20/50 mil. Tiene usted cambio? Voy a Poblado" (I only have a 20/50 on me do you have change? I am going to Poblado). I tell them where I am going. Before getting in. So that they can figure what the approx fare will be and do the math. Most of the time they are sitting on change stashed on them or the vehicle. They would rather not lose the 10K fare so they say no problem.
Bottom line avoid the hassel and carry the little stuff and be done with it.
Oh and this has nothing to do with the money or overpaying 300 pesos but all to do with principal. Colombians hate overpaying. And don't. So when in Colombia
Lastly the drivers don't stop the meter when the cab stops to let you out and as you sit there fiddling with getting your money while strapped in the tin can cab the meter ticks up and up. I usually am grabbing the change from my front pocket as we are pulling over, eye the amt (eg: 7250) and hand the guy 300 in coins and then go for the wallet for the 7mil. If I feel like tipping because he was a pleasant driver the choice is mine. I am in control of this. If not you will get walked on here by anyone and everyone. Colombians do not tip. Some cabbies may even take offense if you tip them.
Another trick is to drive you further up than where you said "por aca esta bien". As they roll further up that meter ticks again. For us it only a little but for them it adds up. Again it is the principal. When you tell them "Here is fine" simultaneously unbuckle your seat belt (you are sitting up front and wearing your seat belt, right?) while digging for a handful of chage in your front pocket. This lets them know without a doubt to stop the fucking cab now.
Another trick is as they see you waving them down they start the meter before you even get in, as they are rolling towards you. Some ballsy ones while stopped at the light and you are waiting for them to cross over to get you have already started the meter. As you sit down and as they are pulling away the first tick up already happens. How is that possible? Well now you know. Wave them down last miunte instead of when they are all the way still up the hill or at the light.
Again. This all adds up for them. I don't care about the 15 cents. It's the principal and they are the ones that are dragging you into the game. You are forced to play.
7407 was the fare as the taxista did the roll up. 7 peos at today's exchange rate is equal to one third of a penny. The cab driver said,"7500". Why did he announce the price? They never do that it is right there on the meter. He announced the price to lock in the round up, knowing that [B]all [/B]cabbies with [B]Colombian passengers [/B]are going to receive 7400. It's the game. Not the third of a penny that ended up being 100 pesos or 5 cents. It's not the nickel and dime game that pisses me off. Its that fact that it is played and it's insulting.
