I've also heard rumors about money laundering. Could be true. Could be a story that started because of his ethnicity.
Did you notice today's Stuckman Weekly touted the coyotes claiming they may save the gogo bar business. Or should we start calling them coyote bars? Part of his reasoning is coyotes are more attractive which will be more pleasing to ladies, couples and casual tourists who want to just gawk at the spectacle. I would hardly describe that as saving the business. That would be (is) a new business model, catering to a different market segment. Are there dwindling numbers of mongers shopping in the gogos? In December my hotel room looked down on NEP. It did not look very busy, even on Fridays and Saturdays. If this is the case, might a smaller number of bars follow the old model while other bars will emerge featuring coyotes for customers with no interest in bar fining the ladies?
This may be one time people may want to thank the overpayers, high rollers, reckless spenders, or just horny bastards carrying a lot of cash and willing to toss it away, because THOSE will be the guys that (initially) help Coyotes transition into working girl status by paying them 5k plus to entice them. As said before, once they get a taste of the big money, few will go back. Now I am not sure what percentage of girls will make the jump, but I believe it will be many. But many will do it in stealth form to keep up the pretense of just being Coyotes to keep face, and then probably add part time working girl work elsewhere.
You might for example be be seeing some future Thermae girls among these new Coyotes.
By the way sometimes Stickman really nails it. This from his Nov 10, 2013 column "If you fancy any of the coyote girls who congregate outside The Arab's bars in Soi Cowboy acting as hello girls, but don't care to go inside due to the cost of drinks (standard drinks are now 200 baht in The Arab bars) and reports of overzeallous security staff, then you may have another option. Strong rumours have it that there will be a flock of girls who once worked for The Arab soon to be found in Nana Plaza as at least one agency reports some girls are refusing to work for The Arab. The same agency has been contacted by a bar group in Nana so put one and one together."
Sure enough not many weeks later you started to see crowds (25 to 30 plus girls) mostly leggy 18 and 19 and 20 year olds or so half way up the Nana Parking Lot late at night (usually 1/2 hour after closing) waiting in line for the agency woman to give them their shift pay (it actually looked like chickens being fed as they were cackling so much). So they definitely need the bahts, that's for certain.
