This is a motorbike taxi. Some Ojeks these days have a windscreen on them, and the driver wears a vest identifying himself as a registered Ojek driver. Most however are just guys on bikes. They will approach you. Only practical if you have carry-on luggage or a backpack. You'll have to bargain hard, so it would pay to know what the usual Ojek fare is. I would guess it's about 30% of the ticket price from the taxi office inside the airport that Tim Tim told you about, but that really is a guess.

Second cheapest way is to go out the same gate and pick up a standard metered taxi. (Your fare on the meter will be about 70% of what you'd pay at the taxi office.) If you checked the cost at the taxi office to your destination, you'll have some idea of the fare. If the driver refuses to use the meter, saying it's broken, just get out. The meter will miraculously fix itself, or there will be several other cabs to choose from. Don't do it off the meter and bargain unless you know exactly what the usual cost is.

To get to the main gate after exiting customs, facing the road outside, head for two o'clock and walk through the car parks. It's about 300 meters and you'll quickly see it as it's lit up like Times Square. There are Ojeks hanging around to the right of the ticket booth concourse. For a metered cab, cross the road and wait on the sidewalk of the dual carriage-way that's heading away from you.

Clear as mud huh? Going through this hassle will probably save you three or four bucks. Ask yourself if it's worth it.

going to the obscure places on the map is very possible.

there are mongering places in the north of the island too, as well as far to the west

economical too. taxis maybe cheap. but for 150 a day plus fuel i can go absolutely anywhere i want, stop whenever i want.

and you get lost, but its not that big, you never get that lost for long
