Bq-Ribs are the Residence Hotel/CareyHouse Hotel chica friendly? And what are there prices when I go to website they have have no prices?.............
Sorry about that, Hotel Venezia is $45 a night and Hotel Carey House is $RD1500 a night, and both are chica friendly. Besides a clean bed, hot water, and A/C I must have a frig and fast WiFi in the room. Jaguar, Venezia, and Carey House all have this at $50 or less a night.

At both hotels I have just walked in off the street and got a room although it is best to make a reservation.
I don't know what happened to Jaguar Aparta/Hotel website?
I have traveled hundred of times on taxi and they have never been stopped by police, so put some removable plastic letters to your car: Jaosousa Taxi, unit 0069 and maybe that will work for you.
I am sure in this shithole country that this idea would work without a hitch! Good sense of humor is always welcome!
Crazy dave
i have traveled hundred of times on taxi and they have never been stopped by police, so put some removable plastic letters to your car: jaosousa taxi, unit 0069 and maybe that will work for you.
i have only seen the policia nacional pull over new, expensive vehicles. taxi drivers have no money, the policia nacional will not waste their time on taxis.
they will not pull over cars with broken headlights, or motorcycles with no lights, or guys driving old cars in the wrong direction on certain roads, or old cars that go through red lights. the policia nacional are not looking for criminals, they are looking for rich people to shake down. the gua gua drivers drive dented and scratched up vehicles because those drivers don't care about the rules of the road, the policia nacional never pull those drivers over.
the policia nacional will pull over guys like me, 50 year old white professionals who have money and are spending money in the dominican republic. somehow in their pea brains they believe that pissing off guys like me will somehow benefit their country.
i have been driving here in the states for over 25 years, i have been stopped twice by police in 25 years of driving here (one time for a broken brake light lamp, which was dismissed when i showed a receipt for a new lamp and one time 22 years ago for a speeding ticket).
compare that to the dominican republic, on my most recent trips in dom rep, i have spent about 20 days in santo domingo. in those 20 days in santo domingo i have been stopped by the policia nacional at least 10 times. i was breaking no laws. every single stop was an attempt by the policia nacional to extract money from me.
my time is valuable and i don't go on vacation to be stopped on some busy dark street and be treated like a piece of shit, by some illiterate 20 year old policia nacional officer who is breaking my balls looking for a donation.
i can tolerate the grime, the filth, the dirt of santo domingo. i can tolerate the chicas who say they will be at some location at a specified time and show up two hours late. i can tolerate the fact that santo domingo is not teeming with beautiful chicas (there are cute chicas there but there are also a lot of dogs). i can tolerate paying 26% in taxes for restaurants and hotels (prices that sometimes compare to new york city). i can tolerate the air pollution, the horrible traffic, the bad roads and the bad drivers.
i cannot tolerate an arm of the dominican government (policia nacional) being given free reign to hunt down tourists like me for the sole purpose of trying to extract money from me.
i have encouraged other mongers to go to santo domingo. i have tried to be helpful. i will no longer recommend santo domingo. if a guy cannot rent a car and drive around santo domingo without being constantly harassed by rude, disrespectful, ignorant, threatening policia nacional, there is no point in going to santo domingo. there is nothing super special about santo domingo that outweighs the miserable conduct of the policia nacional. as i told some of the policia nacional who pulled me over, maybe they will be happy when no tourists visit santo domingo and therefore less money for the dominican government and the dominican people.
Somehow in their pea brains they believe that pissing off guys like me will somehow benefit their country...
No, they are not that intellectual or community minded. They just want money for themselves so they can drive around and get laid by hot chicas. Inglorious basterds!
I have only seen the Policia Nacional pull over new, expensive vehicles. Taxi drivers have no money, the policia nacional will not waste their time on Taxis.
That is one of the reasons of why I never drive in the DR, that can spoil a nice moment, also they drive like animals.

If you use turn signals, both headlights work, car is not over crowded, no dents in the vehicle, these are all valid reasons to be pulled over.
A few times I handed over a few pesos and I was on my way. Lately I have decided to sit in my car and wait until the officer gets so frustrated with my non-Spanish speaking self he just tells me to drive off. If we continue to feed these suckers pesos they will never stop this BS. Maybe we should start posting on Trip Advisor or any other well read travel site of our experiences.
I will drive during the day but switch over to taxis at night for two reason. First, for the most part the streets are not well lit and second I prefer my brugal and presidente instead of driving.
Sure, if you only intend to stay in SD taxis will be fine. To get out and about you really need a car.
The PN can not write you a ticket so their reason for the pull over is bribe money, plain and simple.
Don't let this get you down bro, go bang a couple of chicas and things will be back as normal.
You promote the DR more than anyone here. You learn the language, respect the people and obey the laws. For this you are made to feel unwelcome. But Haiti, one of the most corrupt countries ever before the quake, welcomes visitors like yourself and fully appreciates the interest. Big bear is loved by all there.
Go figure.

I usually agree with all that you post Jaosousa, but I have to dissagree with you. See the super special pics.
I wish there was talent that looked like this in Sosua, I need to return to DR but this time I am going to Santo Domingo. The capital always has the best talent for mongering!!!

You know as well as I do those pics are not representative of DR's talent pool by any stretch of the imagination. Jausousa is referring to the girls that the average monger gets to sample during a mongering trip.
Shame on you. Nice pics though, haha.

i go to the dr for one reason and one reason only, the close proximity to where i live, new england.
i do not and will not rent a car in the dr because my spanish isn't fluent yet and if i were to get in an accident i would have a difficult time dealing with the police and other driver and the way they drive down there it is only a matter of time before it happens. you just gave me another reason not to rent a car. i also do not hit the ground running around non stop like you do. i do understand why you need to have a car from reading your reports and understand your frustration and disgust with the police,i only have one suggestion and it is not the best but i'll throw it out there and that is to take the money you spend on the rental and put it towards a driver, maybe hooking up with other mongers to split the cost.
the only other solution i would have would be to seriously take a look at someplace like medellin where you don't need a car to monger in the style you have. with your good command of spanish you would have a blast running around mayorista and el centro on foot all day and taking taxis at night(taxis are cheap in colombia) and cover more casas than you ever could in a car in the dr,besides, the girls are way hotter there than in the dr,you can find girls similar to boricuaonline's pics all day long, you'll spend your whole life trying to find them in the dr.
...There is nothing super special about Santo Domingo that outweighs the miserable conduct of the Policia Nacional...
It sounds like you need a break from DR. Maybe you should spend some time in Argentina or Brazil.
I usually agree with all that you post Jaosousa, but I have to dissagree with you. And if you want to club hop with a hot chica in your own car, you have to know that more than likely your special moment with these special chicas will be interrupted by some Policia Nacional.
Thanks for the photos.
