Their attitude is that the gig sucked, but they have memories of R&R, living on the beach for a few days, having a pretty young Thai girl grill a chicken and share it and everything else with them.

You are a lucky man.[/QUOTE]I could not agree with you more Paul. I look back and am damn fortunate to have experienced the end of the Golden Era of Wh*ring in Thailand. BKK was amazing and really so was Pattaya. You could go during low season (after Cobra Gold till the end of Oct) and basically have the town to yourself. We would go with a group and have a ball. The Starbucks on Beach and 13 had just opened and we would be the only customers sitting upstairs. Would hit it about 330 after having torn off our first piece of the day in Soi 6. Evenings were great. Gogo gals were never more than 1k LT, freelancers, between 500 and 1k, and Marine Disco after 2 am, off the hook in so many ways.

It was not the awful demographic you have now, just Western mongers and the occasional Asian tour group. Went at least once a month.

Nom Penh was also fantastic. The old Martinis across from the Intercon was the bomb.

Only have two real mongering regrets, that I did not get to Brazil when it was cheap and I missed out on Eastern Europe in the very early 90s. Hot Czech gals for 10. 20 USD would have been wonderful.

Overall I have just had a great time, but as you say Paul, times they do change, and BKK in some ways is a better place and in some ways a worse place. Whatever, it has been my home for over 14 years. The only place I have lived longer than the condo I am in now is the home I grew up in. I am far more comfortable here then I ever was in the US. I eat great food, play in a band, and have wonderful like minded friends. I have a very well educated girlfriend I have been with for many years. Over the course of 7 years we have had a total of three instances where we have raised our voices to each other. We give each other lots of space. We have great fun together. I can hit an oily a few times a month when I need to "get the white out." Overall life is really pretty good.

I hit the bar next to Nana Hotel parking lot around 9 pm, the bar directly across from Hilary 4, great place to scope out the freelance talent in the parking lot and a good place to watch the Nana Plaza hotties arrive for work in their short skirts and high heels. Among other things while Saigon should probably be in the midst of ITS "golden age", apparently the infusion of guys loaded with cash (and young expats looking for freebies) is not exactly helping the situation very much for the average monger.

Also, even by the benchmark fantasy standards of iconic Hollywood films (here with Japanese girls) Bangkok today holds up pretty well. For example any guy in Bangkok able to put a few bahts together can afford a soapie girl or perhaps 2 or more, and in fact this clip the girls range only from probably mid 7 to one high 8, so fantasy can still be turned into reality without much difficulty.

At some point it is true, Bangkok may turn into present day Japan, which has now effectively priced out most mongers from the P4P scene, but its still got a long way to go.

I've stated more than once that I think Bangkok is one of the best if not the best major city that is also a mongers' destination. I also think it was even better ten years ago, and ten years before that, and before that. It will be a very long time, if ever, before it becomes as expensive and as closed a system as you have with Japan. In ten years those of us who are still around may say it was better back in 2014, but it's still a great place to monger. Of course that could change with a change in politics and the emergence of some hyper-nationalist who wanted to discourage and expel all the evil farangs. Could happen but I'm not really worrying about that.

Theoretically Vietnam, like Burma another populous country which is also loaded with beauties, should be these amazing mogering destinations, yet it doesn't seem to be the reality.

Its seems noone is quite able to explain why either destination has not fullfilled its theoretical (on paper at least) promise, I guess some combination of globalization, the internet, improving standard of living (in Burma though barely) , NGO influence, cheap air tickets, China's growing importance and dominance, and many other factors. The factors that produced Thailand's "golden age" could have been a rare confluence of factors all hitting at once, and perhaps will be very hard to ever duplicate anywhere else. For example if SST (Super Sonic Transport) aviation technology did not have to deal with the basic intractable physics problem of of sonic booms, and the interrelated issues concerning overland routes, and the technology had continually been developed over the past 40 plus years, it would have turned NYC to Bangkok into an 7 to 8 hour flight vs 20 hours, a huge difference, and affluent americans and other deep pocket westerners (europeans also) would have ruined Thailand many years earlier..

In my never ending pursuit of new ways to get laid I have used a lot of social media and dating sites. For instance Filipino girls will have no problem going out with, going to bed with, or even marring a 40 years older. Thai girls yes but not as much. Vietnamese girls have no interest for the most part. Not saying there aren't isolated instances but rare in my experience. Vietnam and the Phils are both dirt poor. My personal experience with Vietnamese is they are very shy. Much more than the Thai or Filipino. I spend quite a bit of time with a woman I met the last time. I could have done a long term deal with her. Very successful attorney in Saigon. Divorced with one child but smart and very pretty at 35. I went to kiss her and she was truly embarrassed. She went on to explain that you do not do this in their culture until you have gotten to know someone very well and are "officially" dating and even then never in public. It's even impolite in their culture to touch the opposite sex in public unless married and even then very little.

On the other hand in Thailand even a bar girl will hold your hand and hug you in public. They almost seem to see it as a sign of success. Bagged a foreigner. Most times the bar girls congratulate each other at getting a barfine. The Filipino girls are very loving, in public and in private. The girl I took to Puerto Galera was all over me, almost as if she was proud to have a white guy.

I have gotten more than just BJs in Vietnam. Each of the times has been darn good but it's pretty much "lets do this" attitude. They are very adept at leasing but the vibe is different than anything I've seen before. I even had a young Viet girl in the states that I was helping. She was a dynamo in bed, but it was "get it done, please your man" and move on. She was very sexy and she is one of the few girls I've had that way that are on my regular facebook. I think they are very tribal in a lot of ways.

I would also agree that they are some of the most beautiful girls in Asia. Maybe it's the years of French influence. I'm sure the French like the Americans fathered many children over the years. Whatever it is it works. There are plenty of available bar girls but you're not going to get it at $30 USD as in the Philippines or Thailand. I had a stunner from Bue Vien Crazy Girl and she was amazing. But she wouldn't budge off of 100 USD. I'm sure if I had picked one of the more homely ones I could have paid considerably less.

It would be nice if it were easier but it's not. I also imagine if you lived there or were a regular you could get a system working. I've had some luck on both visits. Still need to do some more research. And, they do not like giving head on the first outing but you get them comfy with you and the will blow your mind. They also do not shave as it's considered bad luck.

I'm ok with that as long as I'm ok with that. I'm just happy to be balls deep.
