Songkran, or Pei Mei in Laos, is fun to do once, after that it's a bit of a pain. It's hopeless if you are actually working there and they start throwing water around a day or 2 early. A wet suit is not a good look for a business meeting.
At the arrival terminal, BTW doors 5-9 are kiosks for 3-4 providers. You can get a 7 day plan with 2gb and B100 of voice / text for B$300 and then top off; there are also 30 days plans. They are super efficient and you'll be done in 10 minutes. I've used AIS and Trucall prepaids, about same service / coverage.

in many visits only once did i ever get the view of a wall. could have asked for & recieved a room with a more pleasant view, if it mattered.

Spent a good part of the afternoon solving the worlds problems with the Doc. Good guy to chat with. Knowledgable and intelligent. And he's got a good sense of what's happening in town.
