[/QUOTE]Most of my "guests" have been ST evening affairs, so we did not have the opportunity to hang out by the pool. I took one girl to Shiso, a Michelin sushi restaurant, at the hotel. The dinner was great. And I had Terma girl come over one Sunday afternoon and we went to the beach. We used 2 beach lounge chairs provided by the hotel. Nobody questioned us. The lagoon side rooms are the same as the ocean front rooms except for the view which is great in both rooms. So IMHO there is no reason to pay more for the ocean front rooms unless you really want an ocean front room. In any case, I am a Hyatt member, and the front desk has upgraded my reservation to an ocean front room on several occasions. On cold windy nights it can feel 10 degrees (f) warmer on a lagoon side balcony vs. Being on an ocean front balcony, however.

Oh man! After my time in India and Thailand I am so happy with being in Brazil again. I can't describe how much better it is for me here. And it's already (again) getting out of scope of this forum. I had some great time in So Paulo, even with the photoacompanhantes, and I have a list of several more to see. Then also in the smaller towns of Vale de Paraiba I had excellent experiences. And it never was the expensive options. And now in Rio I had again met some awesome girls in exactly the cheap places. Having spent time in São Paulo at both Scandallo and Casarao (see the São Paulo thread for full report) I then hit Rio. I had not been there previously.

I have to say that I am going to strongly disagree with the general wisdom of the forum on best clubs in Rio. We were not impressed with the most recommended clubs here, but rather found a gem that doesn't get much love here. Maybe we just got lucky. A caveat is that I love Brasileiras and the amazing Brasileira bunda, but prefer a slim waist vs a thick girl where possible. So this of course colors my thinking.

First stop was Monte Carlo on a Friday afternoon because it was close by. I warned my buddy (who is kinda new to this) to not expect much, given what I'the read on the forum, but we were in for a nice surprise. As a bonus, Monte Carlo also had an English speaking receptionist and a clear pricing card that explains the options.

It's a small narrow bar with seating on both sides and a bar at the end. The service was great from start to finish. A couple things about Monte Carlo. I have found attractive girls there. The selection is generally small and it's pricier than 4 x4. There's also a common observation that Monte Carlo (and Centaurus) feature slim Euro-style girls who tourists generally favor. That could have also been at play.
