First is that I've really only been mongering there for about 6 years so when you talk about how great things were in the 90's I have no point of reference to compare it to. Thailand is what it is here and now. I also prefer short time not LT. While I take your point that there are other places like Europe I live in Australia and I'd be spending about USD2k for the flights with 24 hours in the air plus shelling out serious money for hotels and food. I can get a return flight from Sydney to BKK on sale through Airasia for under USD$400 with around 8 hours flight time with hotels priced far cheaper than their european counterparts. Maybe SA could be option as I speak some Spanish but the security situation leaves much to be desired. Go to the Rio forum and you'll hear guys says the same thing, the best days are gone but a destination is sometimes only as good as you make it.
