Great read, James. I think first extended newbie report since PuntingGeorge? These are the sorts of reports that are most helpful to newbies and to those contemplating a visit.
So where were you doing her if not at the villa?
How were the girls at Pica Flor? Someone suggested they were mostly on the thick and pallid side, suited to Dominican and Afro-American tastes.
Since we were 9 deep and the villa only had 8 rooms and I was the last man to buy in I had to procure my own lodging. I found a decent deal on a room that was less than ten minutes walk away but when I headed with the chica we called our driver. Quickest 300 pesos he has ever made haha.
As for the girls at Pica Flor I believe there is something for everyone. I suggest you arrive early to get a big selection. Also, when you travel to different parts of the world I would assume you want to have different experiences as well might as well try what the "Dominican and Afro-American tastes" is all about.

Charles Pooter,
So where were you doing her if not at the villa?
Back to the villa subject, if the budget allows it I would highly suggest getting two rooms. One really crappy one to keep your things safe away from the "company" and a decent one to actually hang out in.
James don't worry about a thing just have fun. You got time to figure it out. I would suggest talking some other more seasoned mongers on the ground with you not locals.
I don't think I've done anything wrong just yet. Not one local made us do anything we wouldn't have done on our own. In all reality we should have listen to them more like staying at Pica Flor. I do admit I should have taken the number for Pica Flor but that just means they would have picked her up and I prob would have gone chicaless another night. Even though we got off to a rocky start the experience and the service was worth it. The awkwardness at the end killed it. In the end still worth it.
He paid $100 USD. That's approximately 4722 DOP. If all the chica gets is 1500 pesos from the entire transaction, then I would see why she did not want to fuck James; she's already getting fucked coming and going, hahaha!
But seriously Frannie, I would think the chicas at Pica Flor are smarter than to be getting pimped for only 1500 pesos knowing that they can make almost triple that just strolling the block in Sosua on their own. They're more than likely getting a larger cut than that to even keep them showing up for work the next day.
BIGGER QUESTION: How is a place like this even in business? Didn't Peter get shut down because of the same thing (money going first to "The House" rather than directly to the hands of the chica)?
A place like Pica Flor has a vested interest in Sosua having crackdowns and police randomly arresting chicas on the street. "Come work for us and we will protect you from La Policia!"
The chicas get $75. And the house gets $25. On a 4 hour ride, chica gets $100. And the house gets $50. On a TLN, this is straight from the owner's mouth and verified by one of the girls. We were told that we could pay the house or the girl, it was up to us.

Thanks
James, thanks for the great reports and being a stand up guy about some of the mistakes you made, everyone on this board made plenty regardless of what they may say. FYI, Pica Flor has free pick up and delivery, no need to pay a girl for a taxi, if the owner knew she tried to get you for taxi fare I am sure she would be fired, all the girls have the number to the place so they can call for a ride, they have five vans that they use. The owner there runs a VERY tight ship and insists on the girls giving a pleasurable experience, he has to if he is going to charge those high prices and he has been in business for 15+ years. One of the girls we took for TLN was allowed to leave early by us and instead of going back to Pica Flor she went out to a club, the owner found out somehow and fired her the next day and she was arguably one of his hottest girls.

I hear you
The idea of going to Sosua is not paying 4700 for pussy ST. Often with 4700 I can score 3 girls at 1500 a pop. Granted I am very comfortable with 2000 pesos for ST. Lastly you are the 1st person to mention Pico Flor in my memory. You were recommended there by a cab driver. Classicos on a good night has a enough hot girls to knock the socks off all 9 of you. When you learn the ropes of Sosua you will understand My 1st 2 days I bag at least 5 babes and start hydrating to get my leche up.

No one in the DR ever has the right change, so a lot of potential for skimming, rounding up, and so on.

Manizales mentioned Pica Flor just recently and it has been discussed by several people. I think you missed the part about Clasico closing at midnight because of holy week so they had to return to PF to get girls.

I'm sure getting a good deal is the idea anywhere you go, and from the sounds of it that's the going price at Pico Flor. So I don't think we got taken there. And regards to being the first person to mention pico flor I believe this is the same spot some people here say is owned by a guy name "Elvis".

If you get a bad performance you can get your money back or get another girl.

This was in December I believe so yes, she rounded down by a whopping dollar or so, LOL. This is a well run business, and seeing as it is also a bar and restaurant I'm sure that they always have correct change.

The restaurant was formerly run by a Belgian called Marc Couturier, and apparently offered a very good menu of fresh seafood, but the current operator Elvis, as far as I know had a business in Cabarete that he was forced to close and relocated.
Given that the location is a bit obscure and will depend on the, ahem, goodwill of taxi drivers to bring in gourmet diners, and that the previous restaurant operator apparently went out of business in about a year, (perhaps he had a one year lease) I suspect that the restaurant / bar is largely a front for the business that makes the real money. Whether this business will survive or go the same way as Passions and CMP remains to be seen. The key issue is always "trafficking" or in Spanish "proxenetismo" which means third parties making money from prostitution and there is a certain amount of politics involved as to whether the procurator fiscal decides to collect evidence and make a case of it. Various posters here seem to be presenting anecdotal evidence that there is proxenetismo involved.
A place can look like a real restaurant, but if the menu is extensive and the service is very slow, it could indicate that the food is actually being prepared and paid for somewhere else and delivered via the back door.
Personally I do not care for these kind of places and the people who run them, but for visiting tourists the risk of getting caught up in a law enforcement raid is pretty slight.

Yes, picaflor has that connotation in Puerto Rico as well. In some other Latin countries, it is mariposa, which means butterfly. Thai hookers use 'butterfly' too, to mean you want to take out somebody else today instead of them. In Argentina they say mujeriego for a guy who would rather be with a different woman every night than the same damn one.

If they are not getting there cut, your useless and your going to be forced to shutdown your business.
