P.S. The Punta Cana resorts are not very cheap anymore. Much cheaper for a European to go to Spain or Greece.

Seeing how many attractive young women are on the streets is mine blowing. The girls are dressed in sexy outfits and are all available. All this action is just a few hundred feet from your hotel room. There may be places better but for my dollars I got no complaints. More then enough women to find something every day I like. My greatest problem is not having enough time to do all the ones I want. There may be places with better chicas or better this or that but for ease of operation Sosua is off the charts. For all you nay sayers enjoy what ever local you want but old Su keeps calling me and I keep going back.

Funny how they seem to seek out only happy folks to complain to, and then you have to explain to them in detail why you are tipping the bartender, and don't necessarily share their miserable outlook on life.

Best to avoid them, where possible, like persistent street vendors.

When I talk to German guys here in Spain, they are always asking where the black women are. So I think that might have something to do with the appeal of the DR to the German guys. There are enough black women in the brothels in Spain, but not so many in the clubs. Always one or two, but not in quantity. German women are quite fond of black guys as well, and so can be found vacationing in places like Jamaica even though places with equally good weather are much closer in Europe.

Sorry if I'm not posting this question in the appropriate place, but I wasn't really sure where this should go.

I'm planning my first trip to the DR and from the amount of activity in the Sosua thread, I'm guessing that's the are to be. Any objections to that assessment?

On to the main question: do any of you know of a contact in the DR that can set my friend and I up with a nice house and girls? I've had this done for me at other places I've traveled, but don't have any contacts over there. Essentially someone arranges a nice house and gets a few girls that stay with you for the extent of your trip.

Any recommendations? Good idea or bad?

Sosua is a big mongering center, with girls on the streets, in the bars, everywhere, but most of that involves trolling those areas to find your own. The Sosua fans enjoy the "hunt. " Its possible to rent a villa locally (check Casa Linda online) but you need a little local savvy to line up girls. Same with dealing with a "provider. " If you have no DR experience, limited Spanish, etc, it might well be a time consuming process.

If you want to have everything "set up" for you, you might be better off using one of the other venues. In Puerto Plata, a short distance from the airport, there are a couple of alternatives. Across from a large resort complex, Playa Dorada, is 'Field of Dreams. ' You could rent a few rooms and likely have the walled complex to yourself. There is a bar and place to eat on site, and girls on site as well. That said, the quality has slipped considerably for all of the above.

The other alternative is Black Beard's, often referred to on the forum as BB. It is in an inconspicuous location, not the bars and nightlife of Sosua. It is a hotel in a walled complex, with bar and good quality restaurant on site. There are about 30 or so girls that are permitted to ply their trade there if they adhere to certain rules of behavior (no drugs, thieves, scams, etc). They also get checked monthly for STDs. Prices for girls are fixed. I believe the current fee for one time with a girl is about 1800 DR pesos. (Current exchange is about 47 pesos to the dollar). They work in two shifts, day and evening. If you find one you particularly like, you can make your own arrangement with her, using the "mama-san" as translator and intermediary, if needed.

Some criticize it for being "too easy" or "spoon-feeding" but if you want everything "set up" for you, that might be what you are looking for.

I cannot really add to Yanqui's excellent post, except to ask how much Spanish DrHonda and his friends have? Although they could get by in Sosua with none, it would add more strength to Yanqui's recommendation of Blackbeards.

The one thing they want to avoid is letting some local lowlife attach himself as a facilitator. If they are driven to resort to that in Sosua because they cannot cope without Spanish, then they would definitely be better off at Blackbeards.

After my first ever visit to the DR, two weeks spent at Blackbeards which I thoroughly enjoyed, I never returned there because I got even more fun at a lower price by staying in Puerto Plata and exploring along the North Coast. But then, although I was pushing 70, on a minimal budget, and with only a few phrases in Spanish, it would never have occurred to me to ask anyone else to "set me up" with accommodation or girls. I never saw the necessity for that.

I, like you, discovered DR rather late in life. Our experiences were very similar except the BB part. I went into Sosua total immersion completely alone from day one. It was a wonderful experience that actually changed my life.

But when I looked at his post again, I could see the real questions.

I maybe wrong, but there is two parts to the post.

One is about general travel, the other is about putas.

I don't know about you, but I had a reasonable level of world travel experience, so how to get around without speaking the local language to any real extent was not a problem, neither was where to stay, where to eat, and I had a built in radar for the tourist hustle, and the taxi business.

As far as banking, exchange, that was all available on my laptop. I just needed to know where was the best place most of the putas hung out. I and I found that here on the forum.

Mongering for a well traveled person is much easier. For the Non traveled newbie I would imagine it is twice as hard and fraught with more learning problems.

As you say, he got good advice already, so I just wait for more info, before adding any comments.

The usual debate (and one that has gone on for years) is that the "old DR hands" have their preferences, as we all do, but occasionally take it too far, making derogatory comments, looking down on others as "rookies" etc. That is unnecessarily negative. The board is for sharing information, not a contest to prove who is right. Didn't really notice that here. The only 'right' is what is right for YOU.

What I enjoy may not be the same as someone else's taste, but different is not wrong. We can express our preferences, and make honest recommendations, but in the end, we all have to do what pleases US.

I made my decision and elected to reserve my entire stay at Blackbeards. Even though I am booked for the entire time at BB I fully intend to travel to Sosua for a day or two and get a place there for some fun.

The reasons I selected BB as my primary location is that there is at least some customer service that I think I can count on. I desire to engage in 3 somes and BB seems like it would better allow this. I also know what to expect and close trusted voices of reason who are familiar with the place and what I like have strongly suggested it. The concerns I have going into this are based on the recent reviews the girls clear out of BB by 11 and that is when the place shuts down. It will be good to have Sosua as a backup option on some nights since I like to go well into the night of the mood strikes.

I leave in 66 days. Can't wait.
