New to this board. Posted one or two times in USA section. Know the scoop on most of SC and NC, but wanting to check out NL. I speak Spanish fluently so communicating is not a problem. Just looking for some "support" for the trip to boystown and local knowledge to make things easier. Would like to go Thursday night and come back Friday anytime. Anyone interested in meeting and walking over? Im in the area on business until Sat morning. Would really like to probar las chicas de NL. That way I can put up a report here.

Its not as bad as some people tend to paint it. I think the San Antonio news did a bit a while back calling it "Little Baghdad" which was kinda funny.
I am from TN and was down annually in the past. I have stopped visiting NL due to increase in price and big decrease in quality.That said, everyone should go at least one time.
An experienced person would help but you should have no problem without help, especially with your ability to speak Spanish.
Just walk across and get a taxi. confirm the price before starting. Do not drink too much in BT. Do not go to the last street on the left or the last one on the right.
Papa G's will be where all the taxi drivers take you. When you go look for a short medium build waiter, names Miguel (goes for Mike for us gringos). He has a very narrow mustache. He will help you. He knows all the girls and is friendly. Get a drink from him and give him a good tip. It will be worth your while.
STAY AWAY FROM the "Guides" wast of time and waste of money. If you let them take you into any place, the price goes up. You can see it all with the guides (should spell that SCAM).
I was down a month ago. Door girls were generally prettier than the club girls.
They will be a lot cheaper BUT it very unusual to get good service, especially from the prettier door girls. Only happened to me two time in over 15 years of visit. There will not be much action before 9 PM. Plan on staying late for the full experience. Hope you find some lookers. As I said, there have been fewer each time I was down for the past 3 trips. I skipped 2005 doe the things that were going on in NL

Papa G's doesn't pick sometimes until after 10pm, and sometimes even later.
I have seen it pick up at 12:30, don't know where the girls came from but suddenly it was packed.
Yes I agree with the 10:00 and later but if you are a newby, what else is there to do? You can walk around, see the door girls, check out the other places, etc., Beats sitting on your butt in a motel in Laredo, especially for a one night stand.

Exactly, cruise the door girls, see if anything strikes your fancy. Drop in other bars, have a beer and look.
Just wondering if there is much action after the Christmas party at Papagayos on Tuesday the 19th. Do the girls go home for Christmas and not return until after Jan 2d?

I live in Houston. I am considering going to BT tomorrow for the party at Papa G's. Does anyone think it would worth the drive. I am thinking, "Last cahnce before a passport is needed." I have been there before.

Do some research, a passport will be needed ONLY for Air travelers, on Jan 23rd 2007, until at least, as now scheduled, 2008.

Fiesta or Matamorus? Would someone please suggest which one and how to get to it from the pedestrian bridge? I did a search but could not find absolute directions. Any further directions to the Monterra Bar would be appreciated at well.

Do the Fiesta motel. I have stayed there a couple of times and it is a bit pricey at 38US, but it is clean, safe and in a good location. The Matamorus was small, clean and a bit cheaper, but I have never stayed there. The Matamorus hit me with a high price (35US) but would have bargained. The room they showed me was not worth it compared to the Fiesta.
If you can find the Herradura (sp?) bar, then go straight South 1 block to the Fiesta. For the Matamorus, find the Monterrey bar, go West to the corner then look North. You will see it about 50 meters on the west side of the street.
Does anyone have any idea what NL will be like on New Years Eve? I'm thinking of heading down there a few days before and coming back on the 1st or the 2nd. I'll be driving down from Austin and if you'd like to share a ride or meet up then PM me.
