The stings are the real deal, I was sitting in front of Habanos in a car waiting on a chic for my buddy when "la migra" rained in, in unmarked vehicles at first, an immigration bus following about 5 mins later. By the time the bus got there, they had about 10 girls lined up already. All in all, like 25 girls were taken that night. That was the 2nd to last week in may iirc. I am back in Panama now and my girl tells me that most of those girls are still in immigration, in a holding room of sorts, most of them are getting deported at some point. Some have been released. It's a sad situation she tells me, she went to visit some of them and they are begging to get deported. That means that the quality or quantity of these chics will probably not increase or get any better, sad times in PTY. The panamanians leave much to be desired in terms of looks and service.

Just following up on the bodeguita question. The bodeguita VIP, which is the only one remaining, was in fact always there and mostly catered by panamanians for panamanians until the uruguay bodeguita was shut down. The colombianas quickly took over the VIP one and it was a good thing, the "old" bodeguita was quite small and uncomfortable.

Word on the street is that Habanos will be shut down soon, due to being in the Red/Pink zone and being consdered as a true meat market. They are trying to clean up the gringo areas, so what ever talent will remain will eventually need a new spot. As soon as I have word, I will provide more updates.

According to a report on panama-guide.com, it looks like the people in charge of the new joint Moulin Rouge on Via Veneto are the ones behind the clean-up of independents.

It appears as if they are trying to force a very high price structure on clients and must eliminate as much competition as they can to force people to play their game. Hope the public becomes aware of this and boycotts this place.

It's a real shame as the action in Panama was diverse, fun and plentiful. Me and my friends would go down every few months and always have a great time. We just got back and without Habanos or Bodegita and the availability of independents it's nowhere near the same. We've decided to go to Colombia or Costa Rica until (if) things get back to normal there.

I'll dig around and find out what's the scoop with moulin rouge.

On the other hand, I do have to say that Habanos has insanely increased their prices. 2 beers and a straight up whiskey $18. I wouldn't pay those prices in the US, let alone in Habanos. Holy shit. Maybe they need to be shut down.

Like Habanos the Moulin Rouge people are charging a lot for the drinks, to me that is not a big issue as you can drink elsewhere or not at all. What bothers me is the price structure they are putting on the girls. The last time I was there they were looking to get $110 for 40 minutes.

These guys may very well be the worse businessmen in Panama. First, they are trying to put a first world price structure in a third world country, which will not fly. Then, they are trying to elimate all the competition from the independents to squeeze people into paying their prices. This is idiotic because the vast majority of people living in Panama won't pay those type of extortion prices and with them chasing off all the independents, the tourists who visit for that type of stuff will simply choose other locations like Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and a dozen other locations that have a vibrant, diverse and reasonably priced scene.

All they would have to do is lower their price to $90 for an hour and make their drink prices semi-reasonable and they'd have all the business they want. They'd be $10 under the asking price of the independents and in line with Miami and Golden Time and the clients would most likely choose to go to Moulin Rouge and avoid the cab hassle etc. Instead, they seem to want to want to chase the thousands of tourists a year that come for that away to other locales, shrink the selection and draw to Panama and ultimately probably put themselves out of business.

I truly must be missing something here. The girls hang out at habanos as freelancers, right? I 've walked out with a few girls and have haggled down their $150/hr prices to sub $100 for a few hours. That doesn't sound to me like habanos has much influence on the pricing or whether there is a cut for them. Something just isn't fitting here, to me. I know they remodeld Habanos and all, I just thought they were trying to make it more appealing to the gringos, hence the jack up in drink prices. I guess i'll have to be a bit more inquisitive as my curiosity has been sparked.

On the other hand, if ithat's the case, Habanos has everythng to lose here. Is " the suizo" just to big and he's gonna tromple all over habanos? The cubans over @ la bodeguita will have much to lose as well. This sounds extremely interesting as it has the makings to start a nasty fued amongst business owners, local and possibly international governments as the corruption will be exposed and hung out for everyone to see.

Panama is still looking good. While I understand the issues people are having with the prices I believe Panama still has the goods and IMHO its better quality women than St Marteen and Curacao at the moment.

The problem with this new development is that the Moulin Rouge people are getting rid of ALL the independents so that the only option you will have is to go to a "house" and pay whatever they want to charge. It will be an Ok price for the hour- but if you want to socialize with the girl outside the club you'll have to pay a ton to get them out and for their time. Unlike with the independents you can meet them and maybe get them to like you and they'll go dancing etc. with you for no extra charge- it's all up to the girl.

The other downside to this Moulin Rouge catastrophe is that at present there are thousands of guys that go down per year and there are hundreds of girls working. The guys go to Habanos sometimes and to the clubs or houses other times. If Moulin Rouge is successful in chasing all the independents away, there will only be a few dozen "house" girls. Much, much less selection and the ones who are working will be doing high volume so service will go down. There is also the possibility that most guys probably will go to another country and the whole scene including the houses will get very small. Everyone loses.

There are other businesses that will lose too much if the swiss guy get his way. I can only think that they will try to put up some resistance to the Moulin Rouge fiasco, if in fact it is accurate info. I will be back in Panama Wednesday and will pick the brains of some of my stress relieving girls.

I'm back stateside from my most recent trip to PTY. Picking brains wasn't a priority as there were more interesting subjects IN hand. LA migra is digging deeper, there was a raid last night (thursday) in which they actually entered la bodeguita and veneto, I think it was a first. Seems like they drug out a fair amount of girls from veneto. I was in la bodeguita and saw only 4 girls taken away and a few more were taken from habanos. Sad times in pty.

Hello people!!!

Just to give some last minute tips about the ongoing things down here.
There is a MAJOR enforcing now on alcohol meters, background checks and the like.
The police got ahold of a little tool jacked wirelessly to a database where it will show if you are wanted for any charge or if you have any traffice tickets pending.
It is extremely suggested(not to say mandatory) to carry papers proving that you got into the country legally, basically a copy of your passport and the the tourist card will do.
If you are driving, avoid major avenues, as the police likes to put checkpoints and they will make you blow in the alcohol meter.
Play safe and if you have a wingman or local driver, make sure he doesnt drinks or drinks a very very minimum of alcohol

Has anyone stayed at this hotel and can give me their personal assessment/comparison with similarly priced hotels? From what I can find online, this one seems to be rated better than other ones in the Cangrejo district. I'd appreciate any info.
