I noticed another post mentioned Woodland Park as one of the budget options.

Some complain about the occasional smell from the pig farm, but I never really noticed that. Some people also don’t like the 15 minute walk to Fields along the highway. I didn't mind that and it's pretty easy to catch a trike there or back (there was a really good trike driver at Woodlands I always used to use).

One real negative for me was they often had a lot of mosquitos from all the water and vegetation around. The food wasn’t up to the standard of the good hotels either.

Overall though I really liked staying there. The rooms were nothing glamorous, but very big and quiet (except for the occasional party from one of the neighbours) and good value. And the pool (I was told) is Olympic size. Massive and looks clean. Also the staff were very friendly and competent. There were so few rooms there and so much space and greenery around it was like being in a resort.

One funny thing is I was told (no idea if it's true or not) is that the neighbour is an army general who does whatever he wants The story was that he caused Woodlands quite a few problems, but clearly he was not the sort of guy you want to have a fight with!

I stayed there many, many times over quite a few years. Unfortunately the manager there was so rude and bad to her employees (and often the customers) I couldn't stand being there any more (my last visit was a couple of years ago).

Many of the employees complained to me about the way they were treated, in spite of working hard for very little money, and I witnessed her rudeness to guests on quite a few occasions.

Many guests left because of the attitude of the manager.

I helped one of the receptionists to leave Woodlands to go and work overseas and she fills me on what's happening there (some of her friends still work there). She told me that the occupancy is pretty low now, in contrast to many of the hotels near Fields which are very professionally run.

My friend just told me that Woodlands is on the market. It would be great if a good manager would buy it and treat the customers and workers well. If that happened, I would stay there again.

The problem for any potential buyer I would guess is there are relatively few rooms and a massive area (with commensurate high costs). Not a good business equation.

Still sometimes I miss the quietness and seclusion of Woodlands. Just being around all the trees and green and enjoying the huge pool is a welcome change from the chaos of Fields.

But as long as it is so badly managed, I would not stay there. If new management comes in, I would give it another go.

Especially if I stay there for two weeks as originaly planned. If only for 3 nights, you can maybe allow yourelf the little extra as it won´t count for much, but for a longer stay why pay so much for a bed. I am sure you will impress a few girls with a nice Posh Hotel, even more so if you decide on Private Jet Limo into Manila. *LOL*

Yes I totally agree! Always try to stay there when I visit. There are many reasons why Central Park has the highest occupancy rate in Angeles! For one they treat the customer like a king!

If you do make it to AC, make sure you hit Skytrax disco!

I can add it to my list but like most of the guys have said Manila is probably better than AC for Discos:)

No flame wars over hotels at all. Just stating my opinion and I have stayed at CP once many years ago (when the better places were full). It is in a great location, to be sure and for guys on a tight budget it makes sense.

If Central Park has the "highest occupancy rate" it seems odd that Roselle (manages both) often suggests CP as an alternative when PB is full.

The Oahu Wing is quieter than the main building for sure. NEVER heard Fields Ave noise there at all, nor any problem with construction noise. EVER. And I am very sensitive to noise.

Those discounted rates offered by Lewis Grand are not bad at all. Maybe I will stay there a couple nights, although the location is poor (far from everything meaning you must take a jeepney-I refuse to ride trikes in AC except whee absolutely necessary).

Skytraxx is LOUSY for picking up nonpros.

Puerto Galera is hardly optimal for meeting nonpros either. Centers for prostitution and the best places to meet nonpros NEVER mix IMHO. The presence of loads of hookers and foreign customers is NOT conducive to courting nice girls.

PG is a pain to get to from AC. AT LEAST 5 hours bus ride TO THE FERRY TERMINAL in Batangas, then a 90 minute crossing THEN, you must get from the ferry landing in PG proper to Sabang. Count on a full day. Meanwhile you can take the 10am flight from Angeles and be in downtown Cebu (Fuente) in time for lunch.

What he ment is that are as many filipinos there as there are in the Philippines.

read the post about woodland park hotel and agree 100% about the lack of management.

I was a regular guest over there since 12 years, but what they did is only raise the rates and thats it. I remember when I paid 500p something for a standard room and around 1000p for executive room per night.

They fired the waitress and hired baklas, thats was the time it get deserted.

Then they got pinays weddings. Dont like to have a pinoy crowd around me when Im on a holiday. They cater more to them as to a regular guest to me.

All the good staff left, because they get paid quite bad. The female owner got the resort from her taiwanese boyfriend. As you can see its run down , because of pinoy mismanagement. I was a regular but I get never a free drink or anything else there.

It could be the nicest place in AC if they would have a good management, but why tell them. Smart asses should find out themself.
