I don't think that many on this forum carry that much cash, which makes the matter largely theoretical and practically useless, now let's move to the equally boring side of exchange rates:

Exchange booths in Pattaya are in fierce competition and the biggest difference between one and another, there is perhaps a THB 0. 05 (5 satangs) to the Dollar, Euro or Pound. Now exchange your one week money of, say USD 500 at the worst booth, tell me how much you lost?

Of course, if you exchange a minor currency you're surely getting a worst exchange from interbank rate. You can't do anything about that. Just don't exchange at the airport, and avoid or limit ATM transaction which charge 200 THB or or more.

I did get one of the top 2 best haircuts of my life there though for only $1. I hurry up and paid and ran out of there in case the guy figured out he might have been telling me the wrong price.

P4P must have been under a rock somewhere. I went to that Tocino place that was discussed in that thread and it was a bust. Luckily I met a teacher on a dating site to go out with. It was all good until later when she thought I was going to buy her a ticket to come see me in Thailand. I told her I would pay for half. If you are trying to be with me then you are going to put in some effort. I would never have to suspect a serious woman of only being with me for money because I would never allow that.

Besides that, I would not eat Filipino food ever again, even with your mouth. My exgirlfriend took me to what was supposed to be a nice Filipino restaurant and I was on the toilet for a couple of days. They drowned the asparagus in some type of syrup shit. I had to wash that shit off with water.

I have to agree with Paulo99 the last point regarding your comment " Thais unfriendly, confrontational and get mad quickly " In all my years on this board and others regarding Thailand can't seem to ever have read a report from someone just on a short holiday making such a remark. This opinion is usually reserved for guys that have visited numbers of times or expats who live here like me?

Not to pscho analyze but it does give a bit of insight into your personality nevertheless it doesn't mean I disagree with this point of view nor whether you should return or not?

If what was experienced bothers you then yes stay away but I've and many close to me live amount Thais 24/7, look Thai at times can't even be separated but eventually, we are and what I think you might have experienced is nothing even close to what my encounter day in day out living here and I live on the Darkside of Pattaya.

Living here to survive with my personality I had to reinvent myself and that means putting up with a lot of stuff I usually wouldn't put up in the past when you refer to " get mad quickly " you've not seen anything these Thai guys are repressed or something else it is like dealing with a " ticking time bomb ".

Although I've lived here near 15 years I haven't travel much in Thailand what I've been told by others who have that " Pattaya and Bangkok " isn't part of Thailand generally the people, culture, especially the unfriendly, confrontational and get mad easy just isn't there outside of Pattaya and Bangkok in general I firmly believe they are correct. What I've learned living here we bring our learning our views from the West we take for granted that everyone should know these simple things but you quickly learn that isn't the case, in this particular case simple manners? What we see as visitors is the romance of their culture during holidays and celebrations like the songs/dancing even the temples the Land of Smiles when it is really window dressing especially in Pattaya/Bangkok and heavy tourist locations.

The Wai, Sawadeess, aside from these simple manners doesn't exist as we know it in the West. It can't be taught because what Thai is going to teach it? it can only be taught by someone who knows what we are talking about this goes with customer service what you might see is taught by the foreign companies operating in Thailand. The Thais at the market want you to buy if you even touch the T-shirt they folded and don't buy they get upset talk behind your back they at times feel entitled since you are in their country, therefore, you are expected to buy. Try to explain/lecture or teach Thais they won't hear of it because they have been brainwashed there is a saying " the more patriotic the more stupid " this saying covers many things as to why they will never be able to fix a simple problem.

So how did I adjust living here I take everything they say or do with people I don't know with a grain of salt. I just smiled that little smile with "silence is golden " is enough to allow you to enjoy the place that maybe tonight when I'm out at the clubs I might be fucking his wife, sister, daughter or even his mother in some cases that is how I survive here knowing they will never have what I have although it is their country. As long as they keep out of my space I spend my day with this theory " don't put myself in a position for something to happen if I do the chances it will happen ".

On a two week vacation sad because as Paulo99 stated it should be about the pussy!
