But if he is out, then his wealthy mum runs the store and she invariably adds a few pesos to the price of a beer. When I point this out, the reply is inevitably 'your a poriner, you can afford it'. This is from a women who is by Philippine standards, very rich.

All of this reminds me of a friend who knowing the Filipina mentality had me go with him to a very nice neighborhood which had some very very nice homes for sale. Those who work in the Middle East are considered by their families back in PI (many of them lazy and work shy from my personal experience) to be rich. Daughter is working in UAE for example ego.... she will feed the entire family who dont consider to job search anymore.

While I can appreciate why she might want to "set the record straight", I think unless what the person said about her something that is wholly untrue, ie, he said she has 34A boobs when she really has 36DD, then I would advise her to let it go.
